Anyone reloading 7.62x39.

A pause for the COZ said:
Cost of Brass per load is not an unknown. If you pay .25 for the case and you load it 10 times add 0.025 to your per load cost est.

Glad you live in a perfect world of assigned brass cost. I don't. Some of my 223 brass I bought once fired , some I bought as loaded ammo, shot and now have the brass, and some was free range brass. So that being said you show me how to calculate a true brass CPR and you will be my accounting hero. Like I stated my brass is a VARIABLE cost , so I have NO clue what it's worth.

Here is one of the best reloading calculators I've ever used. It's a excel spread sheet and if you know the basic cost of your components and around how many times your going to reload your brass it will break it down to cost per batch in whatever quantity your going to load as well as individual rd. cost and cost per 20/50/100 etc. My current cost for loading 100 rds. of X39 cast ammo is $9.45 and will be for some time to come.

I have AK and SKS type rifles. Had them for 20 years. Accurizing them with mods and concentric handloads has proven fruitless.

Overload work ups in an SKS are not a good idea... I found.

But two months ago I did put a long chambered 7.62x39mm barrel on a 1903 Turks action, headspaced it, and put a steel pillar/bed in front. I have not shot it yet.

I had similar experience with my Yugo sks. Tried everything under the sun. Recrowned before I gave up, and it worked. It now shoots better than 2MOA @ 100yd.

I don't know whether hand load helps with accuracy in this case. I simply don't buy loaded ammunitions at all.

Btw.... some Nosler 123gr "Ballistic Tips"

I haven't gotten good accuracy from my AR or the SIA Enfield K with .310 bullets. I stick with the .311 bullets for accuracy. I do use .310 Hornady's for hogs in the AR simply because I can get a 2nd or 3rd round off quickly and I bought a bulk pack cheap. :)
