Anyone order from Brownells?

I'm looking fo a pistolgrip stock for a Mossberg 500, Brownells has a Speedfeed stock for about $65. I've never ordered from them before, am I better off waiting for the Great Western Gun Show?

Also, the "TAC III" model lists a pull length of 14", and the "TAC IV-S" model lists a pull length of 13". The stock and forend on the Mossberg from the store are too long for me. Does anyone know the "pull length" of the standard M500 stock?

I hear great things about them, but it took 6 weeks to ship a part my gunsmith ordered. I think perhaps the original order was misplaced.

As to length of pull, several people recommended Mossberg's Bantam stock to me for the same solution you're seeking--I haven't tried it yet.

Good company with a good reputation. If you have any questions, they have a staff of smiths that can be a great help.

Brownells is outstanding. In my experience it'd be difficult for any mail order company to do better than they do.

Good company, but high prices.

If you know a dealer who will order for you, even someone with a C&R, you can get discounts on a lot of their prices.

I agree that sometimes their prices are a bit high.
But great service, good turn-around and if it's not in the catalog, you probably don't need it.
Plan on using them for a long time...

Brownell's is one of the finest companies with which I do business. I usually order from them online. They always ship either the same day or the next day, if I've placed the order at night. Their customer service is unequalled.

You don't have to pay the suggested retail prices at Brownell's, unless you just like paying higher prices. All that is necessary is for you to open an account with them online, answering the question regarding being in a related business that doesn't require an FFL in the affirmative. You'll then immediately be able to order online and will get the "trade discount" price.

I'd be really suspicious of a gunsmith or anybody else that claimed that Brownell's took six weeks to ship a part. If they took over 48 hrs., I'd be really surprised. If you order online, you get a confirmation of the order and that the order has been shipped, usually within 24 hrs.

Well, this guy on Glock Talk told us all about Brownells closing out their Accumatch line. I jumped in ... The poster with the info is kind hearted and true, no matter how misguided...(grin)

Well, I got the first barrel and it wouldn't even fit in the slide of my Glock! Geez - Not this again...

Called Brownells - They shipped out a new one the day I called the same way I originally requested shipping! They didn't charge me for the shipping either. I sent mine back... New barrel arrives, it's perfect and shoots like a Tack Driver!

Glad I ordered from them, have made other orders since! I will recommend them highly...

Best advice I have acted on from a Forum... All because of this guy...

Ever heard of WalterGA? I see we have a WalterGAII - Could this be the SAME MAN! (LOL)

Thanks again Walter - My sweet heart is still telling all the ladies in the office how well she did this weekend at the IDPA shoot!

Now, what about those Ahrens 1911 grips... (grin)

SA Scott, if it took six weeks, your gunsmith either forgot to order the part or the guys at Brownells were doing some serious looking for you. I'd figure on the first. Brownells is a First Class Operation

I've been doing business with Brownell's for years. Outstanding company, I've never had a problem with them.

BTW: if you've never used their Tech Support Hot Line, you've missed one of the best kept secrets in the gun world. Their gunsmiths are real experts who just love to answer your questions. No matter how dumb you may think the question is.

My Brownells catalog is dog-eared from constant use (sort of a Sear's Christmas Wish Book for gun nuts). Check out their web sight, once you figure it out, you can search anything in their catalog in about 20 seconds. Great company to work with, they're the "Leupold" of the retail parts industry. I'll often get my standard UPS orders from Brownells next day, but I only live about 50 miles from Montezuma (and I do get the dealer discount).

If you're ever passing thru Iowa on Interstate 80 drop down to Montezuma and check them out - they're only about 10 minutes off the Interstate and even friendlier in person. Once had them send me a small part by USPS, it took over a week! Occasionally I'll order something that's on backorder, they'll ship it out sometimes weeks later, but they don't charge your credit card until it ships and they'll usually not charge shipping on backordered items. -- Kernel

Brownell's is about the best place to order everything! I order almost all of my gun stuff from them. Very fast and good discounts for "trade" people. I highly reccomend them, and they are very efficient and fast. You had to wait 6 weeks? I would be doing some chewing on your gunsmith for forgetting to order your part. They are about the most reliable gun part and accessory outfit in the business.

G21, the only one.
1911 A1 another one.
AR15 the long one.

Brownell's has everything, but they are too expensive. If you can find what you are looking for someplace else, you will be better off. As an example, I bought Pachmayr wraparound grips at my dealer for $31.95. Brownell's had the grips for $74.95. If you can't find what you need elsewhere use Brownell's as a last resort.

I agree with two things about Brownells - they are a very good company, I have had no problems with any order to them, and they are expensive.

On the expensive part, we should all become gunsmiths, then we could get a good discount from them. Few folks know that Brownells shows the smithy discount right in the catalog. To the left of each price is a code in italics. It is usually a number/letter followed by a set of numbers, a letter and 2 more numbers. The set of numbers in the middle is actually the discount or wholesale price. If it is 00, then there is no discount on that item.
