The history channel had a show on it saying it was a special gift from walther. It was real beautiful with engraving and what looked like pearl grips. Evidently Hitler decided to go with Walther pistol as Germany's sidearms and Walther gave Hitler this famous pistol.
Come on, I thought you had a hard one for me! Walther PPK, in 7.65(.32 auto). Many people believe it is the trusty Nazi "Parabellum" Luger, but, no, it was one of his gold engraved-ivory gripped PPK's that he usually carried.
blades67 was partially right. Hitler isn't dead. He's now a secret political consultant for the Democrats, as well as a close personal friend of such like minded people as Clinton, Reno, and Schumer.
Back to serious for a moment. The Walther PP was reportedly in a private collection in Canada. Pictures were shown in a Guns Magazine article years ago. Supposedly blood stains of Hitler's type (no DNA testing at the time) were found under one grip.
Contrary to some reports, it was not "solid gold". Walther stated that it was a fully functional steel pistol, gold plated and engraved, and verified that it had been presented to Hitler by the company. The pictures show a pistol of the type that would have been presented to the head of state by a major arms maker and I saw no reason at that time to doubt that it was at least a presentation pistol, although of course I had no way of knowing if it was actually the suicide weapon.
I'd like to complain to the moderator about the rude comments made in reference to our pillar of integrity, Janet Reno. Quite unlike the honorable attorney general, Hitler confined people in shoddily built structures and then shot, gassed, and burned them because of their religious belifs. Can't you people see the difference?
Moderator, could you please ban ledbetter? Unless, of course, I'm missing something here.?!?
I would also like to complain to the moderator about the Mississippi bashing going on here (not that I would necessarily want to live there). This is most decidedly impolite and disrespectful to those Mississippians who frequent this board...
