Anyone know if Tyler's T grip still in business?

FWIW, they just phoned me a few minutes ago in response to a note I
mailed them last week. My impression was just as mtngnr said, they're
busy. More accurately, they're HAMMERED trying to get the orders out
and the paperwork straight. You can still write or call, but I'd suggest
backing off.

I sent my order in 16 Feb 11 and have not heard a word. The problem with backing off is you don't know if they lost your order. At least they could change the phone recording to say they are working on back orders.

Tyler Manufacturing

Tried for 10 days straight to talk to them about an inconsistency on their order chart. No answer, no way to leave message just their computer-voice telling me to call again. I have owned several businesses and managed others and I double-guarantee you, the phones were not hostile like this. Through family deaths and other personal problems and business ups and downs we either had a friendly message, a voice mail, SOMETHING. My rule was GET BACK AND GET BACK SOON TO THE CALLER. What's so hard about understanding the customer is your lifeline? I am going to look for another trigger shoe for my trap gun. The amount of crocodile tears being shed for these lamebrains is pitiful. Around here, it's act right or get off the reservation!

I ordered 4 sets on 16 Feb 11. My check was cashed and I have not heard from them since. Now, not even a recording on the phone. I'm going to file a complaint for postal fraud.

Just wondering if anyone on this board that has placed an order with Tylers has received their product. I ordered around March 8 th and have never been gotten them on the phone during their posted hours and have gotten several different automated messages and busy signals when I have tried. Just curious to know if anyone has gotten the actual product they have paid for?

I placed an order in December of 2010. They cash my check in about 3 days.

"A week went by and now it's July...." Frank Zappa

No order yet. I'm not holding my breath. I really dislike it when someone steals from me.

I was all set to send them an order and a check, but decided to look up recent activity.

Glad I did.

Even though their website indicates they're still in business, the phone has been disconnected and their email is kaput. Many posters on several websites are relating tales of checks promptly cashed and months later, no orders filled.

Sure sounds suspicious...

I visited Melvin Tyler when I was in high school, that was the early 1970's, and he was old then. The shop was only 1/2 mile from school and it is about 1.5 miles from where I am now. It has not been his shop for years.

The 73143 zip code is a post office zip used for po boxes only. I seem to remember his daughter(?) running things on the south side of town many years ago. He may have sold the business.

Doing some checking it appears that they are operating as TYLER MANUFACTURING & DISTRU CO INC out of 1900 Shirley Dr, which is in Choctaw in the far east part of Oklahoma City. The company was formed in 1996. Brandy Matthews, age 40, appears to be operating out of that address, but Shari Matthews of 5653 N Penn, OKC, OK 73112 is the contact for the company. That address is a business building housing BINT L.L.C.(oil & gas)(405) 848-2113, COMSTOCK APPRAISAL SVC(real estate appraisals)(405) 608-0707, PIPPIN PROPERTIES INC(real estate)(405) 848-6161, Joullian Vineyards Ltd (405) 848-4585, Ad Astra Foundation (405) 858-1152, and Long Engineering Co (405) 848-3356.

If you need me to drop by and say 'howdy' let me know when you find them.

Before losing interest, I was keeping up with a long-running thread over at S&W Forum about this subject and it was asked if anyone had received a T-grip from Tyler in the year 2011. There was not a single "yes" in response.

Well, it's now mid August and I still have'nt heard a word. My apologies to those of you I gave the lame advice to 'be patient'. (And all I wanted was one lousy grip adapter!)

Tylers has reorganized and is under new ownership. They have started to fill backorders and are shipping product. I placed an order back in March, maybe April, and like a lot of other people, had written it off as a bad deal. Two days ago, they showed up in the mail. They look and work just the way I remember them from back in the day. There have been a number of reports on various boards from others saying they have started to receive their old orders also.

Hopefully, they have bottomed out, and are starting to climb out of the mess that someone made. I'm going to give them a chance to catch up the backorders, but I will order more from them.

Also, there is a fellow on the Smith & Wesson board who has started to manufacture a similar product made of a type of plastic. Do a search for BK grip adapters.

IIRR when I spoke with them some 4+ years ago the T-GRIP was NOT there primary business. The gentleman was running a machine shop and this was a side item Hobie sort of thing. Then the gun scene exploded.

Looks like there is a person large and in charge at Tyler's now as he posted on the web page. He has even posted a shipping schedule that is prioritized. I need to order a T grip for a S&W Model 10. I haven't done it but shall do so in another month when it looks like he might be caught up and have some stock on hand.

Got my grip adapter for the M-66 round butt today !! I take back all the bad things I may have said about Tyler T-grip :p

Thank you Bryan Matthews!!

I received a call today from Bryan Matthews, Jr. from Tyler T Grips. He called me to say that my size #4 grip in bronze would be shipped out next week and offered to send the aluminum grip (also on my original order) out today. I told him to ship both when the bronze grip is ready.

I was very glad to hear from him. He explained some of the family business saga, and I wished him well with his endeavors.

To those on this forum who counseled patience, you were right!

I'm glad that Mr. Matthews will be resurrecting the good name of Tyler Mfg.

I will do business with him in the future.
