Anyone know if Tyler's T grip still in business?

Hi all,

Does anyone here know if Tyler Mfg. the makers of the T-grip filler are still in business?

There website says yes, however, I ordered some grip fillers last October, paid with a check that cleared, and haven't heard from them since.

I've tried calling for the last three weeks during the times when their website says the "phone lines are open". No one answers, and there's no way to leave a message.

Next step is a certified letter I guess.

Here's hoping some TFL members in Oklahoma might have a line on the company!

Thanks,

Mike

Ill bet several members live 'nearby' and drive close to there frequently. Maybe posting the address would help someone to drive by and see if open.

Langnc,

Thanks for the reply. I checked the website and they only list a PO box in Oklahoma City. I'm mailing a letter tomorrow.

Thanks for the link!

Sending out certified letter now. Hopefully that will get a response. I will let the Forum know what happens.

Update on Tyler Mfg.

Well, I sent Tyler Mfg. A certified letter in late Jan. and included a copy om cancelled check along with a nice letter enquiring about the status of my order. Someone signed for the letter, I can't read the signature.

However, I have had no response from them. None what so ever.

Now Tyler's phone is disconnected. So I have pretty much given up hope that I will ever see my grips, let alone my $68 dollars back.

I'm still willing to give them one more chance to make good on my order before I flat out call them thieves, however, my patience is wearing thin.

I just heard from them.....the old man, Brian, died, and his kids are scrambling to stay on top of things and are buried...orders and inquiries are coming in faster than they can stick a finger in all the holes in the dike even for replies, and none of them have internet savvy and are trying to get a local college professor to update the site, and they work full time and have no way to write replies to everyone

I wrote a letter and the son called me, as i did give my phone number...the son was desperate....here is the news....they are moving to a larger building, trying to get the 1-800 number everyone knows transferred, and will be in production in a couple of weeks, hopefully....previous orders, invoices, all packed....and he pleads everyone be patient, as they WILL honor orders....if you fear or suspect your order was lost, WRITE them....son is master machinist, but not up to snuff on trying to sort out a business that dad let slide as his health deteriorated, but he is doing his best....hang in there folks....

I am in the same position as you (over a barrel?) I am waiting for my trigger shoe since Feb 2011. Keeping fingers crossed. They cashed my check w/in a week they received it. Sent a letter no reply.

D&J Gun Repair shows OUT-of-Stock on every T-Grip I checked on their site.
I sent Tyler's a check about three weeks ago and it was deposited within a couple of days. I am encouraged that they responded to your letter and hope they will get back up and running. I have their grips on most of my revolvers and will keep buying them if they keep making them. I actually bought my first T-Grip from Melvin Tyler himself at a gunshow in Houston, Texas about forty years ago and have been a faithful customer ever since.

mtngnr,
I feel better after reading your post. Thanks. But they ARE running over
three months on my order, so I may have to write them. I don't mind the
wait so long as its just a slow production issue, but I hate to think they
actually lost the order altogether. They really do make a great product
and I hope they get their act together soon.

I ordered a couple of sets a month or so ago. I figure I'll get them sooner or later. If not...well, it won't make or break me one way or the other.

I ordered/received a t-grip last fall. You're lookin at 2-3 months from receipt of your order/check.

Tyler Mfg. still silent

Well, the family that is supposedly running Tyler Mfg. & Dist. Co. has updated their website with talk of a new facility and filling back orders.

However, they still do not answer the phone.

I'm sending a one final certified letter to them with a copy of my cancelled check to them in the amount of $68.75. And a polite request for the product I paid for or a return of my money.

They had NO problem cashing my check. However, they saw fit to ignore my first letter, then my first certified letter. I'm not asking for anything other than the product I paid for or my money back if they cannot fufill that order.

If this effort fails, my only recourse will be to join the others who have already filed complaints with the US Postal Service for mail fraud.

I can't believe that it's come to this. They once were a nice company to do business with. What a shame.

they have a choice, the guy trying to get this outfit running AND his sister...they can answer all your mail and calls, OR make T-grips.....this is a 1-3 person outfit trying to get it up and running after the death of their father, NOT a factory, and they have other jobs.

They ARE in production now with move completed and facilities at least half finished, first batches of brushed are shipping, obviously the polished versions and anodized ones will take extra steps.

My advise it leave them alone unless you think your order is actually lost, whereupon a POLITE letter will work miracles....otherwise let them work...

I wrote them one polite letter in December, 2010, and a polite letter January, sent certified (to determine if someone picks up the mail from the PO Box,) which someone signed for at the Post Office. However, no response.

Now, according to some, they are hard at work moving, rebuilding, filling orders etc. which, if true, is fine.

Never the less, if they wish to salvage their considerably tarnished reputation, they NEED to answer inquiries in a timely manner. Especially inquiries from people they have accepted money from and put off for months and months. Seven months and counting in my case.

I included all my phone numbers, emails and a copy of my order form and cancelled check deposited by them. It should be readily apparent that I'm not trying to pressure them or bamboozle them. I'm simply inquiring as to the disposition of my order.

The ball is in their court, and they are flubbing it badly.

I'm not buying the "they don't have any time because they are feverishly manufacturing product" theory.

They HAD the time to update their website to inform customers of the move. But now can't find the time to update it again to let people know if they're working on orders?

If you have a way to contact this family, please do, and inform them that their non-communication is ruining the once good Tyler Mfg. name.

Perhaps if one of you knows how to contact the family, they will give you some info to pass along to the boards?

I've been waiting more than 7 months, and I'm prepared to wait longer, that I don't mind. What I do mind is the family ignoring the phone lines, the website, and especially the letters and certified letters I've sent.

I sent them another letter today, politely asking about my order and included a copy of my original order and a copy of the cancelled check AND a SASE with which they can reply.

Now I've made several good-faith attempts to reach out to Tyler's Mfg. It's their turn now to show if they worthy of my trust.

You would think if they're working so hard to fill orders, someone would show up somewhere (this is discussed on most every board I read) and say "I got mine yesterday. It took "X" ammount of time, but I got them."

Still, if I don't ever get them...Oh well. No use crying over spilt milk.

I have ordered some Ahrend's grips to replace the Magnas on my Model 18; when those arrive, assuming I like them, I will no longer need the T-grip currently on my Model 18. It's either nickel or stainless, I don't remember (I think stainless).

Not actively looking to sell or trade, but if somebody is in desperate need, and assuming I like the Ahrend's when they are actually on my revolver, I'd be willing to talk.
