Anyone Have A .25ACP?

I purchased a Beretta Jetfire on a whim. Just another pocket pistol, I couldn't resist adding this one to my little collection. :) It's tiny and well made.
I was wondering if anyone else had one and what you keep it loaded with.

Own a Raven .25 ACP. Bought it when I worked the graveyard shift at an all night service station when a co-worker got cut open from his chest all the way down to his groin. Haven't fired it in nearly two decades -- clean it about twice times a year, though.

I don't have a .25 Beretta, but I do have a PSP-25. It's a copy of the Browning Baby. Tiny little thing with a chrome finish. Holds 6+1.

It jammed a lot when I first got it, but does fairly well now that it's broken in. Definately not as reliable as my larger guns. Also, it won't take hollowpoints (though I think my Glasers will work). Furthermore, it's not powerful nor accurate. But it's better than nothing when you can't pack anything larger.

I've shot the Beretta in the .22 version, and like it a lot. It's a little bigger, but a nice gun. It jams sometimes, too. I don't care for the single action version, because it would seem difficult to carry.

Say what you will about the .25 and the .22. I'd take either over nothing at all. While I haven't done any real testing, the .25 seems to have a little more kick than the .22, though this is just my subjective opinion.

Finally, the biggest problem to the .22's and .25's is the new .32's (Tomcat, Guardian, and especially the Kel-Tec) which give you more power in a package as small or smaller!

I own a Phoenix Arms Raven .25acp

It was once, a long time ago, the only firearm I owned. Funny thing is that just within the last couple of years did I fire it. Though I never had a doubt that it would not work.

ok ok i too have a raven 25 still new in box looking exept for shooting it. i catch hell over it being my discrete carrying/backup pistol but point is they can kill too, just make shot placement well if not at least stitch the perp good in high hopes.its sad to hear that one was used last week to kill a fla teacher with.i have heard many hooror storys so far on them but point is dont panic and make shots count, hard to do in a hurry,so when your tired be alert always and try to see it coming o have the upper advantage.ps getting shot suks, been theyre done that coming and going.better alive then dead i say.2 shots, make first one count, the next to 911 second .
ps almost forgot these ravens are discontinued now but phoenix still has parts, i just got a freebie recoil spring when i had mine dated by the numbers,4\19\93,also on the safety i had enlarged the holes a touch to get a more positive klik so it wouldnt go off when loaded in my pokket. i also removed the ball bearing in the sokket and added a 1\8' thick shim under the spring to increase the pressure on the saftey as well then held the ball in and retapped the edge around to hold it in.that was the final trick it needed.

I bought a Jetfire for my wife many many years ago. This was before she had any interest in shooting. All in all not a bad ittle gun... except for the cartridge (over priced under powered compared to a .22LR Hyper-Vel). Don't ever remember it jamming or having feeding problems.

After she got use to shooing that (close range (< 10 yards) head shots only) we eventually worked her up to a Browning HP. She is quite comfortable with that.

If I had to do it over again I'd get a .22 or .32. About the same size package but better cartridge performance.

Back in the dim and distant, I owned just one .25 ACP: An Astra, Spanish copy of the Colt/Browning. Traded a .22 for it, and a box of shells. Carried it for a year, never fired it. When I finally tried, found that dry-firing had broken the firing pin. I'd been toting a cute paperweight. <sigh> I was young, and I have learned better since... :D

If they take our guns, I intend to let my hair grow long and acquire the jawbone of an ass.

I fired a Colt Vest Pocket (see it at http://dd-b.net/RKBA/photos.html ) that a guy brought to the range. It is very well made, accurate (i.e. 1-2" groups at 21ft) and tiny. It isn't light but so small that it might look like a pager to an on-looker. Had P32 not been available, I would have been tempted to consider it. Unlike Guardian/Seecamp, it has very slight recoil and can be fired much for practice without any pain. Good SA trigger, too. I am not impressed with .25 but would pick it over .22 for extra reliability and heavier FMJ (50gr vs. 40gr).

I too have a Beretta Jetfire .25 ACP. I mostly load it with Mafsafe ammo. I realize that it isn't as effective as a larger caliber, but it is better than nothing. I seldom carry it, but there are times when it seems to be the best alternative. Have never had a malfunction and I like the ability to load the chamber directly. Jerry

.25 ACP? You bet! I have a Seecamp, Bauer (SS version of a Baby Browning), two baby Brownings (one blue steel, one nickel ltwt), two Astra Firecats, and a Colt 1908 Vest Pocket. Until my son and I got Autauga MkII's we both carried Astra's, the best .25 auto made IMHO.

I have a baby Browning .25 that is kind of a family heirloom. It belonged to my father. Jeff OTMG, how well do your baby Brownings function? My distant memory recalls that the "baby" worked fine when I was a kid. Now it is not reliable. I've tried new magazines and various ammo, but still no luck. It is surprisingly accurate for such a small gun, but reliability sucks. Any suggestions?

Friends,
I was a little reluctant to post this. Those of you who know me know that I have several pocket pistols and some larger caliber pistols also. I purchased the little Jetfire one day when I was at the gun shop trying to decide which scope I wanted for my AR. It's the stainless model and it's nicely made. It makes me want to take a closer look at the new stainless Tomcat. Some people have told me that my Jetfire is a waste of money, I disagree. You can't just have "big" guns in your collection. :)
Thanks for the replys.

I purchased a Beretta Jetfire (.25) while stationed in Hawaii in 1965, still have it tho I haven't fired it for quite a while...but I'll keep it anyway. :)

Got a 950 Jetfire. Excellent little piece. Mine has been utterly reliable. Not really concerned about all the negative talk about the caliber (or lack thereof). Keep it loaded with FMJ for maximum penetration.

I bought one a about 1.5 years ago. It's been 100% reliable, and I feed it Hornady XTP hollowpoints. I origibnally chose them because I read a test od THREE .25ACP brand hps and only ONE expanded (Hornady). The other two that were tested and didn't expand were the Speer GD and Winchester Expanding Point (XP). Now I've shot about 500 of them with ZERO problems. I carry it now that I finally got my permit.

Day before yesterday, I shot another phonebook. It through the entire thing... The phone book was about 3-4 inches think (over 1000 pages). The hp was fully expanded too. I also like Fiocchi's ammo for cheap practice.

Everyone needs a .25 or two. :) I have a Baby Browning and a Colt 1908 pocket pistol. I don't carry either of them, but they're really nice little guns.
