anyone ever made a 30 Carbine bolt action rifle

Not bolt guns, but my 'smith built me a .30 M1 Carbine on a Martini Cadet using a "Snap" extractor ... then I had him build me another on the same type action because I found that I could reform some of my fired .32 WSL in a .30 Carbine FL die to make a rimmed version. I knew this would work because the .32 WSL case was the parent case for the .30 Carbine when it was being developed ... just reverse engineered it.:D

PS ... not accurate? Mate these rifles with a Lyman 90 MJT rear and a 17 globe front sight and you will be more than pleasantly surprised.;)

PPS ... you can also reform .32/20 WCF to make a .30 Carbine Rimmed, or you can neck .32/20 WCF down to .308" and make a .30/20 WCF. I've done that one as well.

Interesting. I also make off-brand use of the 30 carbine die. It is for 7.62 nagant. I size and load it with 30 carbine bullet and seat the bullet below the casing mouth, just like the original nagant cartridge. It shoots better than the factory cartridges in that revolver.

OK we are off a tangent here. We should control ourselves. ^_^

I have a CZ527 19 Badger that is based on the 30 carbine.

I now consider the 30 carbine case head to be a vile discretion against humanity, after being spoiled with real case heads, like the 223.

Yes, the 25acp and 10mm case heads are worse. But those are pistol cartridges and no one is going to load them hot, due to recoil.

tangolima - wrong term used - push is more correct but when the case is pushed up into the chamber the head will ride up under the extractor or when the bolt slammed shut force the extractor over the case head depending on how worn the extractor is. - basically the same principle.

The fact is the round head-spaces on the case mouth or it is suppose too.

I met a guy who converted his M-1 Carbine to a semi-bolt action. He drilled out the gas piston, threaed it to that a screw and the gun is now a straight pull bolt action. Many years ago, California considered any semi-auto other than .22's machine guns if the had a magazine that held more than IIRC 5 rounds. I thought it was a bit awkward to work but he was happy with it. Later, California allowed people to use the Carbine as a semi but only with 5 round magazine for hunting. Regulat 15 and 30 rounders were OK at the range as I recall. This was back in the late 1950s and we werfe good with the 5 rounders by 1960 out in the field as I used one for a Labor Day hunt just before I left to go into the military.

A bolt action .30 carbine would be extremely cool, especially when you could use 110-130 grain spitzer bullets. Only if they/you make the magazine/action long enough to use them. I'd buy two and put a .256 Winchester barrel on the other and maybe a third to do a .20 caliber wildcat.

you guys have got me thinking... shell holder is interchangeable between the fire balls, & the 30 carbine, so I'd assume any fireball rifle out there would fit the 30 carbine without modification

hmmm... just looked up some figures...

221 Fireball...
COL...1.830"
Rim Dia... .378"
Base Dia... .376

30 Carbine...
COL... 1.650"
Rim Dia... 1.650"
Base Dia... .354"

so there is room to use spire point bullets ( which I use in my Automag 3, & fit in those magazines, so even though they are rare, they could be a possible feed source )

I'm out of room for more rifles... I do have several 30-06's though... would it be sacrilege to get rid of a bolt action 30-06 in favor of a 30 carbine :o
