Anyone else have the same problem?

Same problem.

If I look, I buy. I have bought 2 this year (so far) a S&W 642 and a S&W model 14-4. My prolem, like some have said is reloading, I have bought 22lbs of powder, 4000 bullets, 6000 primers, and have more bullets being delivered by fedex today and I have bought 2000 rounds of .223 ammo. I need a hobby.

Any real gun enthusiast or collector has the issue, recently I purchased a SIG Sauer mosquito and told myself it was the last one for a while but one month later I purchased another 10/22. Why I need more than one 10/22 I don't know but it didn't stop me from making the buy!!!

It's called an addiction. I got it ,too, but I don't have to go to rehab. for it. Just watch my checkbook and how much room I got left in my gun- safe.

I couldn't agree more Buckhorn, if its not putting you on the street or affecting work.....you got it under control!!!

Even if the hobby isn't putting you on the street, causing financial problems, or family issues (yet) - it needs to be prioritized. It's a hobby, that's all it is.

Family/Friends, Money, then Things and guns are just things - to paraphrase a popular talking head.

Shortly after I started messing around with firearms I said to myself "this could get expensive". So what I did was put together a list of rifles that I wanted and could use to hunt and target shoot with. I was pretty much done (or so I thought) until I went to a gun shop in Charlotte, Nc and saw a Remington 700 5R/.308. I didn't purchase it right then and there but did a month or two later. Am I done? Probably not. One day I'm gonna walk into another gun shop and sitting there with my name on it will be yet another rifle that I never intended to purchase.

Can't say I have that problem. In fact, I was just thinking I was pretty much coming up empty when I was thinking about what new guns I need/want.

Could get a nicer shotgun I suppose, but I have two that are functional and work for the rare game of skeet/trap that I shoot, as well as being able to accommodate a buddy.

Have two Ruger .22 Mark series. Bought the second one because I found a good deal and so when I take a friend shooting we didn't have to share .22's.

Got a Single Six to scratch my revolver itch.

Got a CZ 75db that I don't too often because of the ammo cost and not caring for the long trigger pull.

Pretty much at this point the only two I'm even considering are a bolt-action rifle and a .357 revolver, but neither of them too seriously.

When I shoot, I pretty much exclusively shoot .22's. I'd like to start hunting, but between wife/kids and a lack of land I haven't been trying too hard to figure out how to go about it. Debating beginning to reload but would have to do some figuring regarding space and simple time to do it.

I feel guilty enough about going to the range and leaving a gun in the bag/at home. I don't know how you guys with 100+ do it.

Yes It is a hobby

I can't afford every gun I see or pick up, I have to save for a gun purchase. When I get the money I then go on a mission to find the gun I want. I reload all my ammo. I also have to save money to buy my reloading supplies. My wife will ask me if I need a new gun, my answer in no I don't need it but I can afford it. The money I save is not money that comes out of the family budget. my wife knows that if the were a money problem I would sell any or every gun to resolve the problem. I think that the majority of shooters place the needs of their family ahead of the guns they want. I am aware of the OP intent of the post was for humor.

12 pt program......

I will not buy a gun "today" ..... I will not buy a gun "today" .......
Argue with myself, what can this gun do that the one's I already have can't do ?

and I told myself that every day for 6 mo's, then it became easier.

The only rifle I want to purchase these days is a good shooting .243 cal. with a bull barrel. They are not hard to find so that tells you how much of a priority it is. I already have a Ruger M77/.243 thats a tack driver. I just want the same with a bull barrel.

If you are seriously spending money on a gun Everytime you turn around and you have the luxury of doing so, then no one is going to try and stop you.... or even really feel sorry for you. :) However if you know it is a problem then I suggest a few things. First get rid of some of the firearms you do not need or trade towards other firearms. Secondly if you buy up all these guns then overtime they will lose their value. Not monetary value. But their value to you. Secondly get another hobby. If you continue down this path you will get burnt out. Trust me. I have 5 different hobbies. :)

Lastly if you seriously want. You can buy me some firearms. Lol. Have a good day!

Also maybe take up photography as a hobby? Then you can photograph your collections. Just an idea! :)

Getting married will stop him from spending money on guns. But trust me it won't stop him from spending money on what the wife wants.

too many guns

I know what you're going through, as I can think of any excuse to buy a gun that I Like. That why I only go one gun show a year, and told my wife what ever I spend on a gun she can buy something of equal value for herself. Last time it cost me a lap-top computer which was actually more than the gun I purchased. This, alone keeps me in line. Besides, I've got guns I haven't shot in years, just so I could admire them in my gun room. Everybody deals with it in their own way. But yes, it can be a problem, especially when Cabellas Shooting catalog shows up, which is pretty soon now! Don't even go to Cabellas' gun museum on line. You'll be calling your M/C to see what your limit is!!!!!!l I'm happy to know I'm not the only one out there with the same problem.

The only thing that keeps me from owning more guns in money. I run out of money too soon to have more than a few. If ran out of room then that would mean time for a bigger place to live, or a storage shed for the nongun and reloading stuff to go in.

Yup

Like I said in an earlier post:

she is now requesting (read: demanding) a diamond replacement for her cz engagement ring, that she picked out no less

Well, not to hijack, but I think it adds some perspective. We went out "ring shopping" Friday night.....long story short, her finger is now adorned with a $2000 diamond, that'll definitely curb the gun money for awhile....grrr;)

anyone else have the same problem?

My neighbor, who is a nice guy, gringes everytime I buy a gun. But he goes golfing at least twice a week, and just showed me his new driver made out of some titanium alloy. I didn't ask how much it cost, but I bet it was close to what a new gun [depending on what gun] would cost. So, we're not the only ones with expensive hobbies! He likes golf, I like guns, and 'never the twain shall meet '. My point is , some guys like cars, some guys like golf, and I like guns. We're all in the same boat. Every man must have an outlet to minimize the pressures in life.
