Anybody nickel plated a Glock?

9x19, no I didn't know that! I was wondering what the "Wonder" finish was on these guns.

D Far, welcome to the stream of consciousness that is The Firing Line. :D

Black is Beautiful!

Saturday found me at a Gun Show and there before my eyes was such a glock creature as you describe. It was indeed a Glock frame with an Aftermarket Slide fitted, the slide being a Silver to Nickel type of finish. It certainly catches ones attention, not neglecting the fact that there was a tag beside the Glock proclaiming that this particular Glock was a "Cooper Special"

Personally I like my guns flat black(parkerized or Black-T), deep blued, or a brushed stainless if the gun is stainless. Its my opinion the only flashy thing on a pistol should be the muzzle flash when it goes bang ;)

Great!!! Now we are pimping out tactical tuperware!! whats next running lights on our rugers? I think I'm getting si.............:barf: :barf: :barf: :barf:

A real hornets nest was stirred up here WOW!!

What was I thinking? It's not like all the new S&W handguns are stainless, or the majority of the Les baer, Kimber, Ruger, Kahr, Dan Wesson, Wilson Combat Caspian, Baretta, Para Ordnance should I go on? or have some kind of two toned finish on them. I agree chrome is over the top. But unless you have had your head up your ass most of the firearms handgun or rifle have something other than plain black on em. Hell look at the caly guns.

OK, I'm being QUITE serious here.

Didn't Glock at one time make the 17 in an olive drab, both frame and slide?

For some reason I seem to recall seeing a couple like that years ago.

But D Far, the 1911's and Beretta were attractive to start with. Two tone actually makes them look better. A nickeled Glock . . . ugh!

I saw an off duty police officer working a security shift at a local barbecue restaurant a couple years ago who had a pistol with a slivery slide. I said, "What kind of pistol is that?"

"Glock 27!" he said.

"Oh!" I replied, "I've never seen a Glock with a stainless slide.

"The barrel is stainless. The slide is nickle", he said

"Oh, I see", I said. "At first glance I thought it might be one of those new Taurus Millennium pistols."

"No...it's not!", he replied. I think he was really ticked off at me.

I think all Glocks should be black. Otherwise, they look cheap. The best finish for a Glock slide is a black teflon coat. Talk about sweet! I think I'll eventually get my Glock 30 teflon coated and get a stainless barrel with a stainless guide rod.

Well, there's the bare stainless Caspian slide for Glocks.

I've seen some done with a matte hard chrome.

I personally think nickeled guns look like the bumpers of very small cars, but that's just personal preference.

Make sure you get customer feedback on whoever's going to be doing the nickeling before you send it off; don't want all that time and money flaking right off the slide.

Yes that is where I first saaw the different slide. It was a Caspian. Unfortunately, the slide and few mods done were $2,700 on top of the Glock price!
