Anybody else been "made" while carrying?

I would be surprised if it really was legal to carry at a university - at least a public one. I know for sure you can't carry at a public school at the high school or lower level. I work for one.

One day at an independent Baptist church before the service started, an aquaintance appoached me from behind. Just before offering his hand to shake, he put his hand on my lower back/kidney. (I don't know WHY people do that!) He didn't say anything, but he had his hand on my SIG through a light sport jacket. I doubt if he cared, since his boys still attended my Sun. School class and the pastor is RKBA. Anyhow, he didn't say anything to me, but I think the gossip got around.....before the month was out, three other aquaintances did the same thing, with the hand on the back hand shake. Nobody said anything and I didn't have any eyes look at my SOB while walking the isle during the offering (I was an usher). The wonder is how in the world that they kept their mouths shut after that.

There is the remote possibility that they thought that they put their hand on my knife, which I carried openly some of the time.......Naaah.

I'm sure I was caught twice, but neither one of the people who saw said anything.

Because of this incident, I stopped using my Bianchi Accu-Mold for my K-40. It was just too klunky and obvious. It was in Taco Bell and I was sitting there eating my Gordita. I reached over to grab my purse, and when I did, my shirt rode up and over, and rested over the top of the holster, exposing pretty much everything. There was just one guy sitting behind me, and I could see his reflection in the glass window. He was staring at me. I covered back up and finished my lunch. He kept staring at me as I went out the door.

The second incident was after that one, when I got my belly band. I don't print at all with it. At the time I was working in a hardware store, and was helping a customer. The item I had to reach for was in one of those deep dusty bins that you have to practically shove your entire body in to retrieve anything. Anybody's shirt would've rode up in that case, and mine did. I know the customer saw it, but he didn't say a word. I went to high school with him, and so he probably wasn't surprised.

I believe that no matter how careful you are, getting caught can still happen. I always have a problem with people, especially men, who think they can hug and grab me all over the place. Several times people have felt "some kind of a hard object" by my side and give me funny looks.

I had an OOPs once. I forgot while carrying openly in Colorado.. just returning from elk hunting and forgot i was wearing a stainless 44 and 18 rounds in a custom cross draw cavalry holster by Trailrider Products. I walked into the mens room of a rest stop south of Fort Collins and I think I scared the bejeezus out of a guy with california plates... of course it could have been the beat up fatigues and the russian army boots and the 7 day beard.

Funny thing is in most of Colorado Open carry is legal and won't get you looked at twice (in rural colorado) but I generally leave my iron in the car.. I was just so used to wearing it by then I didn't notice I had it on.

Nice to see a fellow art director here. ;)

I've often worried about getting the permit and getting "made", One of my friends allays this problem with heavier coats and jackets and IWB holsters, but I find them increadibly uncomfy. I'm still trying to figure out my wardrobe in case I decide to carry. I'm a minimalist. I shoot IDPA with a galco slide and a full sized 1911 or Hi-Power, which conceal very well with a sport coat, but even linen jackets are hot in late summer.. guess I'll opt for the mexican carry style thunderwear and a smaller gun. No One but your girl touches you there. ;)

"is that a pistol in your pocket or are you happy to see me?"

"both actually" ;)

I got made by once...
Quite often I wear a light shirt over a Tshirt. The ligth shirt is only for covering. Well, one day I was out and about near some other folks when a gust of wind took my shirt and exposed my gun. Hogle Zoo in Salt Lake... fun place... Has a lot of Educated Idiots. The CoEds there FREAKED OUT. The cute one was more calm about it and I heard her say "Shut up - badguys dont have holsters."
I didnt say anything and just buttoned the bottom two buttons. They went there way and I went mine... Nothing else happened and nothing came of it. This was about 10 months ago.

A few months ago I was on a small shuttle bus with several people I work with. It was crowded, and I was carrying a P32 in an under the shirt rig similar to a belly band, under my left arm. The bus lurched, and one of my co-workers put out his hand to steady himself and it landed right on my shirt on top of the gun. Neither one of us said anything, but I believe he thought it was a gun, or perhaps a collapsible baton (which I sometimes carry).

when I first got my carry permit. I carried around my house to see if my family would notice when I got a little braver I went to the store with my wife. she put her hand on my gun (IWB under a shirt) I thought she would notice for sure, nothing. I asked her later if she knew. she didn't I finaly told my family I was carring and asked them to see if they could tell. I had to really pull my shirt tight for them to see were it was. since then I don't worry much about being made. I think the only people that will make you are gunnies like us. I have made 2 people. the one I knew had just got his permit . the other was a undercover cop I know. on both of them I was really looking.
