Any Virginian Dragoon Fans?

HELP!!!!

I just recently bought a Virginian Dragoon in .44 mag for 180 bucks, not bad and it even came with the western style holster. The gun was made in 1976 by Interarms. The reason i need help is, the cylinder lock spring that keeps pressure on the lock tab at the bottom of the housing broke. All it looks like is piece of spring steel.Any idea where i can get one? My dad has one just like mine and has owned it since i was a kid. And i love the thing. No recoil unlike my Kimber .45 acp. Dont get me wrong i love my Kimber they are a great shooting and dependable pistol. But come on the sight of that beast is hard to beat. Any help in locating the spring would be a great help. And where is the serial number stamped? There are no "rubbed" places that would indicate someone rubbed the serial off. the only number i could find is in front of the trigger and that is the Alexandria zip code,Google is a good thing.

Thanks

What is this "Swiss safety"? I have looked at the pics and don't see anything. Is it a way of describing the practice of leaving the hammer on an empty chamber?

The "Swiss safety" is a cylinder pin that can be pushed in to a detent or notch on the pin, passing through the back of the frame, that blocks the hammer from falling and striking the firing pin. It is released by pulling the cylinder pin forward. It made a hellofa noise if your forgot and attempted to fire the revolver with it on.

Many people filed the rear of the cylinder pin down to get rid of it. I left mine intact, but never used it. Opting instead to carry it with 5 in the cylinder with the hammer resting over the empty chamber.

I bought one for $200 last fall. .44 Mag, 6 inch barrel, used but good condition. Fine shooting critter. I carry it when I am out and about my property on my tractor.

The same shop had a nice, what appeared to be a nickle version but it had an issue with the pin releasing the cylinder. The shop owner removed it for me to check out the barrel and finally gave up on putting the pin back in place, some defect. I came back in a few days later and he said he worked for two days to get that thing back in place. He had another blued version which worked like a charm. Still neither of the two stayed in the store long.

Man, I haven't been on TFL in years! Forgot all about it. Found this thread while searching info on the Virginian Dragoons, I'm surprised my login still works!

Anyway, I also own one of these fine hand cannons, stainless in .44 magnum. Not sure of the barrel length, probably 5.5-6". Bought it used a few years ago for $400, I remember seeing them for ~$175 back in about 1980. Wanted one then, never got one. So when this one came up I jumped on it.

This thread makes me wanna go shoot it now!

Any recommendations for holsters for these beasts?
