Any Ruger 77/22 fans?

I have one, about the 1986 model.I don't shoot it enough. To be honest I like my Marlin 60 better.Has less than 500 rounds through it. If anyone wants to talk about it give me a call 978-424-7024 :) Cliff

Yep, LIKE EM!!!!!!!!!! Owned one some years ago and traded it off. Really dumb move.

the one I currently own has been "tricked out" by Clark Custom and is one whale of a shooter!

t7024, I have 2 Marlin 60s. They are a lot of fun. If you keep them clean and the ejector wire gapped right, they run great!

Yep,got the ALL Weather paddle stock in S.S 22Mag. One of the best truck guns I ever had. It loves the cci,hp's.shots about 1/2 moa which is good enough for me. GREAT little rifle, nice trigger & smooth action.;)

I have a 1986 IIRC I bought off GB for $405 with the shipping. It came with a cheap, straight tube Busnell scope in fixed 4power. Someone added a stop screw and cut the trigger spring to the point it was unsafe. I removed the screw, plugged the hole and replaced the trigger spring.

I made some targets with 1" squares and at 50 yards it will keep 10 shots inside those little squares. And it will do it with federal bulk ammo from WM. I shot one 30 yard group that had 4 bullets into a slightly elongated hole hole. Of course i pulled the fith shot and it was a quarter inch out. This seems to be a very accurate gun. Much better than the internet reports I had read would have me believe.

My gun also has the factory open sights. As much as I like my Marlins this would be one of the last rifles I would ever sell.

boatpaddle

I was searching for a "grown up" .22 about 2002.

At LGS I noticed a stainless boatpaddle Ruger, 5-6 rifles back in their off set display rack. It was a 77/22 and had obviously been there a while, covered in dust, the stock even seemed a bit sun faded, sort of grayed out.

The price was very good, obviously not "upped" from when it first came into the shop to current value (it was indeed a new rifle but old merchandise on hand). The clerk tells me they won't sell, every body buys more affordable .22'2 and won't give the asking price for the higher priced Rugers. (you could buy a Rem700 ADL synthetic centerfire, or a Savage 110 for about what they wanted for the Ruger .22) They had a couple more in the back as well he says. Bought it on the spot. Told a guy at work,he went and got one too.

Put a Volquartzen sear in it, but kept the Ruger sear spring, if I remember right. That helped the trigger alot. Eventually got a Leupold 2-7x rimfire variable for on it (used, good price). I would have just as soon had a fixed 4x rimfire, but am not disappointed in the variable, but it stays mostly on 4x. The rifle has no sights.

For a while I kept it zeroed w/ CCI Stingers, and it seemed to like Rem Subsonic, but eventually got around to buying a good bit of Rem Golden Bullet HP and that is what it has been fed and likely will be as long as I can find it (again someday I hope). I have never shot any really high dollar .22 fodder in it. Just found a target dated 5/03 that has 5 rds at 50 that measures .790", not breathtaking, but certainly not bad for bulk ammo.

I like the tough as nails low maintenance aspect of the little rifle. Its the only stainless rifle I own. I try to shoot it weekly and sometimes manage to shoot it a couple of times a week. There is a 6" gong on the corner of my property about 100+ yds off from my side door. If I hold the top of the bottom duplex post on the center, and squeeze well, I'll get a hit.

I shoot it more than any other .22 I own.

M77/22

I have an early one that I bought used with a Leupold M8-4X on it. Nice trigger and it will shoot sub 1" at 50 with Mini-Mags all day long. I have never used any quality target ammo in it and wonder what it would do

I have a 77/22 Hornet if that counts... It was worked over by the previous owner and is now .22 K-Hornet and has about the best trigger I've experienced. It's a sweet shooting rifle and the only problem is I don't take it out nearly often enough...

Bought mine in 84 or 85 with open sights. Shot it for a while that way and my son learned to shoot with my 77/22. Mine is very accurate with most major brand ammo. Put a low power scope on it and it got better. Great gun if you don't mind a full sized rifle. My 10/22 is a little more fun to pack around, but not as accurate. I don't consider this rifle a "target" rifle, but it has taken its share of small game and punched a lot of paper with pretty small groups. Never really tested it with expensive ammo.

At the time I bought mine, everyone thought I was crazy to pay $325 (IIRC) for a .22. Maybe I was, but I wish I had bought more than one. Looking back, I only paid about $350 for my Ruger 77 RSI in .308 about the same year. Wish I had bought more than one of those also.

When you account for inflation, they're actually cheaper today (if you can find one). ;)

I got an email from Bud's guns this morning telling me the 7722 blue and walnut was back in stock. Mine should be shipped in a few days and I will have one. I hope it shoots as good as it looks.:)

Bought mine in ''91'' Took it out today & it still takes care of those cats that thinks its cool to leave tracks all over My Lincoln LSC.;)

My 77/22 is a 25 year old All Weather Stainless wearing a Leupold 2-7x28 Rimfire Special. Cheap bulk ammo yields groups in the 1¼-1½ MOA range. I have not shot match ammo with that rifle yet. I will eventually buy an after market stock and bull barrel, turn it into a varminter style, as I am not fond of the synthetic stock.
