Any redemption for the Beretta?

Beretta are reliable, but not durable. The locking block should be replaced every 3,000 rounds. Glock or Sig or HK will give same reliability & durability.

Thanks for all of the replies. I have never owned a Beretta, which is one of the reasons I posted this. I wanted to find out for future reference.

Neither guns were mine, and I haven't had a chance to look at either of them since, therefore it could very possibly have been a magazine or ammo problem(I don't remember what brand it was). It also could have been the shooter, but having put literally thousands of rounds through Ruger, Colt, and S&W autos with nary a problem, I didn't really consider that venue of thought. Having read the above discussions, I will treat Berettas with an open mind(unless something happens to change it ;))

I carried a Beretta 92-G through my departments recruit school until 1998 when we switched to the Beretta 96-G. In seven years I never had a malfunction that was not purposely induced by an instructor.

My only complaint is that it is a little big for concealment.

I was issued four M9 pistols (aka Beretta 92FS) over the course of 5-1/2 years in the Army... the first one ran like a champ, and the last three were jam-o-matics with NATO ball ammo. Not real comforting.

I have to say that I can't even imagine what a jam even LOOKS LIKE with a Beretta! BTW I owned a Taurus prior to the Berettas, and it also ran 1000 rounds without a hitch.
