any opinion on Mossber shotguns?

I've owned/used a Maverick 88 for about 10 years with no issues whatsoever and I'm picking up my new-to-me 835 today.

Brownells has the metal Mossberg safety

for $15.00, well worth the price.

Currently own a 20" 9 shot 590 with all the goodies on it for the impending zombie invasion, and a well-worn 500 with a 28" bbl.

Currently looking at gunshows for a used 18 1/2" bbl, or I'll just go to Cabelas and plop down $75 for a new one eventually.

My brother has owned Mossberg 20G for the last 15 years and it is his primary hunting weapon. It may not be the prettiest shotgun I have ever seen, but it is certainly reliable. He has never had any malfunctions or other issues that have affected its performance. This thing has seen some abuse deer hunting in swamps/willows too. I'd give Mossberg a serious look if I had the need for another shotgun.
