Any ill effect firing DA/SA revolver in SA?

I can't figure out how the term "mall ninjas" got into a thread about revolvers. But here's a dumb question, how important are snap caps? I'd like to do more dry fire practice with my 642 and model 10, and none of my local shops sell .38 caps. They're cheap online. Should I get some?

SA for sheep rapists so as not to hit the sheep, but DA for the other types. Make sure to pull the snap caps before you saddle up, and vice versa!

yes.

Or, if you reload, make some. It will cost you six bullets and cases to make 6 dummy rounds, and a bit of hard rubber or plastic to glue in the primer pocket.

When the "primer" gets battered too much, just trim out the remnants and glue in another piece.

Another "plus" to making them is you will have snap caps of almost exactly the same weight as loaded rounds for your practice.
