Babylon 5 is a show I think a lot of TFLers would like. It was sci-fi, like Star Trek, but instead of everything being so black and white, as to who's good, who's bad, Babylon 5 had characters with flaws, and strengths. Characters with values and dark thoughts.
Sure, it was a TV show and therefore could be kinda silly at times, but overall I think it was a kind of sci-fi that really had been lacking before it's inception.
The politics are dynamic, sometimes complicated, and very realistic in so many ways. The fact that everyone speaks english is hidden well by the other nuances of the show.
The battle scenes, unfortunately left some to be desired. tThe flight characteristics of their Starfuries could often be so bizarre as to be garish, and made the fights look silly. Still, there were some good ones. I like the time when the other humans are coming to destroy Babylon 5 and Delene shows up and says, "only one man has stood up to the Mimbari and survived. He is in front of you and I am behind. Withdraw or be destroyed" That's good stuff, yummy
Also, in that show, when character had to act in self defense, there was no, "Should I do this? What does it mean to the nature of humanity?" like they would have in Star Trek or some shows like that. When the character's in Babylon 5 were in danger, they often became quite dangerous themselves. I liked the realism of such reactions. Not everyone played the victim, or played the PC role.

The Bill of Rights is a document of brilliance, a document of wisdom, and it is the ultimate law, spoken or not, for the very concept of a society that holds liberty above the desire for ever greater power. -Me
