Anti Gun / School Rampage Book Pushed on School Kids

Rich, I was just being cynical and sarcastic. I don't make a practice of lying to further my own views or agenda. Truth is by far the best policy.

I was illustrating a point: that we are up against an enemy who has no qualm about sending us chasing after lies for decades. (I still run into people who think Glocks can't be detected at airport security checkpoints!) What the antis are doing is forcing us to have to squander our energy chasing down lies, for if we don't, people will absorb their illegitimate "facts" and base their votes and other support on inaccurate crap spewed by antis. If pro-gunners had not countered the lies about Glocks, do you think they would still be available?

That's my point. This is a dirty war, with dirty tricks being used (mostly by our enemies.)
All I'm saying is that we should understand that there is a possibility that we will lose because we are in a street fight, and trying to fight by gentlemen's rules. That may not work out so well for us.

When was the last time a gang of kids dismantled a house after reading Greene's Destroyers?

I think that if outcasts are going to hold other students hostage, they're going to do it whether or not they're required to read a book about it. Reading and discussing a book about it may even provide an outlet for some of the motivating frustrations those students are feeling.

However, if the overall message is anti-gun, that's not reasonable.

You can read bits and pieces of the book on amazon.com. It seems to be an after-the-fact collection of statements by various students and adults connected with the school. Click on the cover picture on the amazon page, then click "surprise me." You can navigate forward and backward up to 2 pages by clicking on each page's margins (there are tall vertical arrow bars). When you're done with one 5-page section, click "surprise me" again. Eventually Amazon will temporarily lock you out of the page viewer, but I'm not sure what the limit is. It may even be probabilistic rather than a fixed limit.

Well I'm outraged by some legislation that was recently passed. I don't know what it says, but a few strangers claim it limits freedom.

Rich, when was the last time our esteemed Congress passed a law that increased our freedoms?

Teaching your kids to cut and run will do them no good. Teach them to stand up for what you believe in.

Yeh, thats`s what Democrats do and it`s what they are- dirty, nasty, and mostly liars.

Wow wsm, why don't you try to paint a little bit larger a demographic with that big brush of yours. I'm no fan of the democratic party but to label them as any more dirty, nasty or lying any worse than our beloved clean, beautiful, and virtuous republican party is...retarded.

As long as there are humans in either party they'll BOTH be dirty nasty, etc...

It might provide a good time to sit down and talk with child about important things like the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, self-defence (both as a right and a responsibility), how to handle themselves in similar situations, the fact that just because a teacher says it or you read it in a book doesn't make it true. Instead of whining, running out or getting all over indignant, it might be better just to take advantage of it as learning opportunity and a good reason to spend meaningful time with your child. Stop relying on the public schools to be the sole (or even primary) educator of your child--it's abdication of your parental duties.

Instead of seeking ways to teach your child NOT to think and be responsible (by banning the book), take advantage of the opportunity the school is providing you as a parent to teach your child to think and and demonstate for you child responsible freedom.

ITE... pretty well summed it up. Seems like the scumbags all aspire to be Congressmen. Vote third party, maybe a statesman that actually does what the people want will be in the bunch. Party loyalty is not the same as loyalty to America.

So if they have to put up with the book and its author, why not push for equal representation of our side? Get an NRA spokes person in there with a few pro responsible firearms owner messages. They can't say no, can they?
