I can get it new for $1099.00 with a 5098 two stage trigger.

I could get 2 CZ's or 3 Savage's for that price.
The only really plus for me is that is has a 2 stage trigger.

What do you think my chances are of getting one the shoots MOA or better.

My feeling is getting any brand of rifle that shoots MOA is a crap shoot.
Will the Anschutz be any better?

Thanks for any input!

Anschutz is the cream of the crop for production rimfires rifles.

Lots of companies make great 22 rifles that can shoot well, Anschutz makes premium rifles that win world records....:D

Be prepared to spend alot of time finding high quality ammo that will give the best results

I've got Marlin .17 hmr I bought used for $200 it's better than 1/2 moa when I do my part. For an anschutz I'd expect 1/4 moa or better if I did my part, and demand it do so if I knew I could shoot that well consistently, it's an anschutz, I'd be utterly disappointed if it didn't wipe the floor with the Marlin.

Don't think I'd be a fan of the 2 stage trigger though.

Feel like most .17 hmr that aren't the lightest of light rifles will do 1 moa or better. My Marlin may be a freak though. Id expect a CZ to do as well as my Marlin, and be a more attractive rifle with a better trigger.

I hear that. Mine came from the factory with an 8 oz. trigger. You just could not feel the first stage hard part before the break. I have mine adjusted as far as it will go and it is close to one lb. on the second stage and I can barely feel the end of the first stage. I would like a little more pressure than I have now but will probably have to change some springs to get it. The rifle does shoot very good with the right ammo. It is pretty picky.

Get a CZ with a set trigger.

that is the 453. I have one in 22lr, a very nice rifle. And discontinued. And can do 1/2" 5 shot groups a 50 yards. Note- discontinued.

the Anschutz is in a different class, I have a 1416 22lr with 2 stage also very very nice.( 2 verys) Either you appreciate the nicety or you dont. Not a snob deal, just a matter of what you like to do with your dollars. The 17 is primarily a hunting caliber, you wont kill any more game than with a ruger or cz, this rifle goes beyond function. The function, is top notch. Then for anschutz this is actually just the entry level. My Anschutz has a problem ejecting empties. They hit the scope and land back in the chamber. That is pretty annoying. Kinda like a temperamental sports car, no excuse really. it is a cronic problem. take it or leave it. And, It can be fixed if you send it back.

I think any 'good' 17 should deliver 1 inch at 100 on a calm day. I would 'expect' 1 moa. I would hope for that from a cz as well. Even my Ruger american 22mag is pretty close to 1 moa. The Ruger will do that at 100 yards with vmax.

I have seen that thread, but; thank you for posting that.

We also have the option to send the bolt back to usa, Anschutz customer service and have it tuned up(fixed for free). IIRC, that is a lifetime offer (one time) service. If I do it my self, I would want to order a spare set of parts first. Free, is better than buying Anschutz parts.

Ruger would give you the parts, but not these guys. They are so bad, they were shipping guns without filler screws for the scope mounting holes and then charging extra for the 4 screws. Not me, just a story from several recently posted on the web.

Anschutz

Shoot an Anschutz or lose to one.

And can do 1/2" 5 shot groups a 50 yards
I scored a target at a match in PA that was shot with an Anschutz rifle - iron sights, prone, 100 yards - TEN shots in one half inch.
Easy to score that one.

I'd get the Anschutz, but not in 17 HMR. But if you like the caliber, get it. You will never know concerning the accuracy/precision of that rifle until you shoot it. You can always sell it, but of course, I seldom abide by my own advice.
