Another sad UPS story

This thread reminded me about our deliveries when I worked at a computer store as a tech. UPS was fair on not beating the hey out of stuff. FedEX? Can you say 'click-click-click'? HDDs aren't supposed to make that sound. Of course, if the FDX driver drops the box with 20 drives off the truck onto the deck and then proceeds to roll them into the door. (hear scrape/slide- smack about 5 times) I shake my head in wonderment why we didn't have more broken stuff.

Best was R & L and GOD. Those guys were good. Lift the pallet to the deck and then roll it to the door. Excellent everytime.

Last Friday, UPS delivered a new lever-action rifle to the local gunshop. The carton was bent in the middle, and, sure enough, the stock was broken at the wrist.

Still not as bad as the fate of my Beretta .380, which was stolen while on its way back to me from the Beretta service department. When Beretta filed a claim on the stolen gun, UPS tried to blame Beretta, stating that the gun had not been properly boxed! Considering that the box had been opened, the pistol extracted, and the empty box resealed while in UPS's care, I'm not sure what else Beretta's shipping department could have done, other than to ship the pistol in a gun safe. UPS finally paid the claim, however. Ugh.

I've got a question for everyone...why doesn't the ATF or other fed agencies go after these UPS firearms thefts? That's employees stealing from a common carrier while interstate transporting of leathal weapons isn't it? Get the flash bangers on that one, should be a real eye opener for the CEOs of UPS.

A few years back I had to have my Calico repaired; After 50 rounds a projection off of the striker block (Is that the right term?) had snapped off. Actually, I was fairly impressed, in that it kept working; Just got a little noisy, as there was still a bit of pressure in the chamber when it cycled.

Anyway, they said no problem, it was from a production run where they'd gotten bad heat treat on the part, and repair was on them. Shipped it to them ok, (Bought a locking gun case just for the occasion, and shipped it in that.) but when they sent it back, UPS left this very rifle looking package, supposed to be signed for, leaning against my front door.

James: Why don't they go after these firearms thefts from shippers? Well, duh; Because they cause US trouble, that's why.

Here is the reason I will never use UPS again.

I live in MA and my wife is from Florida. My wives mother passes away and we go down to settle the estate etc. My wife takes her china and we ship it UPS. Buy the insurance etc. Boxes show up destroyed. My wife goes through the roof. She can not even function. Now a side note is that my wife is not an older woman. She is 25 years old. Her dad died 2 weeks before our wedding and mom dies the day after christmas. 25 with no family left... anyway. I contact UPS. No problem. They can pay the claim. I just need a receipt for the china. A receipt???? It's 30 f***ing years old!!! I offer to attempt to get it appraised and that is not acceptable.
After months of fighting with a bunch of idiots we gave up. I now have a 2 pill a day tagamet habit but I'm doing better. UPS sucks. UPS customer service sucks.

What does FRAGILE CHINA mean to you??? Most people can figure that out. But not in today's less work for more money America...

Hello Mr. Bellmore:

Incase you missed the point of my last post it was...duh...being sarcastic towards the ATF and UPS...duh.

I once had a boxed TV set left against my front door, clearly marked as to what it was.
Lucky for me it was there when I got home.

Here's my "why I hate UPS" story. In September of 1997 I ordered a laptop from a company in New York. Everything they ship is/was via UPS, so I had no shipping choices. This was just after 'the strike.' UPS tries to deliver package (I guess I should be thankful they didn't just leave it), but both hubby and I are at school. I get home and find the little "attempt to deliver" notice on the door. One of the options is that you can call this 1-800 # and request that the package be left at the local UPS place and you can pick it up at your convenience. That was the option I chose. Next day, after school, stop by local UPS, package is on the truck--they can't do anything about it now and will be closed by the time truck comes back in. Go home, notice is on door, this time threatening to send the package back. Call 1-800# again. No reason given for mix-up. Next day--call before coming home--package on truck again and is being shipped back because I wasn't home!! Finally got a hold of local UPS and told them they had better figure out how to get truck driver back in with my computer!!

Never again will I deal with UPS.
