Another Rabbit Shoot

G'day.

I think anything under about 50gr would probably fly apart at the muzzle.

I have found load data for Sierra #1385 40gr HP. with a twist rate of 1:8 @ 3500 f/s. Zero at 42m, +/- 1inch out to 185m.
The #1200 & #1210 are light jacket projectiles so you could be on the money about the twist rate for them.

Thats been about my estimate aswell. Even the 55gr seem to vary in behaviour (a few shots under an inch, then a few at 2-3 inches etc), which makes me uncomfortable with using them against something that is alive.

The fastest and easiest way to clean a rabbit is litterally rip him apart, it is very hard to explain but once you get practice you can clean a rabbit in less than a 2 minutes. Plus you get zero blood on your hands. I don't know how to post a wmv file on here or I'd post it to show you how.

You don't eat the cats do you? lol

I dont think it was self recommendation was my idea. Just something i have had a lot of experience in and was happy to answer a question with a fair amount of knowledge. :)

Telgriff if you head shoot you cant go wrong. Good luck in whatever you choose.

I head shot a rabbit with my .270 and it went way way wrong. It was about 10m and entered from the south end of the north bound rabbit. The 130gr SP went all the way down the spine, it lost a lot of energy by the time it entered the head. There was no arguments about it being DRT though.

I don't think I have shot any rabbits with my .222, in fact I dont think I have put 100 rounds through it yet. lol:D

Well skulls its a fine rifle and caliber. Its all my dad used years ago, once you start shooting verman and bigger stuff its a whole lot of fun.

If you want any data i have heaps.
