Another lead in center fired rifle question (308)

C.H. Harris said that 2400 was good for light loads because it was not very position sensitive and you didn't have to put non-gunpowder crap in your ammo.
He also said not to put non-gunpowder crap in The Load of Red Dot.
 
I once picked up a 1909 Argentine Mauser in 308 really cheap because the owner had loaded lead bullets to full velocity without gas checks. It was leaded from one end to the other. I used steel wool and eventually mercury to get the lead out of that barrel. I tell people not to push lead faster than 1,500 fps, but there are always the people who want to argue and say they do it all the time. Not my problem. I tell people how to avoid problems, some people tell others how to fix the problems they caused. Your choice.
