148 gr wadcutters
I use wad cutters by choice, even though I don't have ammo restrictions where I live. I use the 150 gr hard cast from Buffalo Bore in my 3 inch 686, but it really hammers my 442 Airweight, as well as my hand. The momentum is high, even if the pressure is not plus P. I use hard cast 148 gr wad cutters from Double Tap in my Airweight, and they feel like standard target ammo. They are about midway in velocity, and therefor momentum and recoil, between target wad cutters and the Buffalo Bore version. If I didn't have access to these two loads, I would use target wad cutters and learn to get good shot placement, always the most important aspect of defensive shooting. It is even more important with less than ideal ammo.
