An issue with my Redhawk

Make a powder switch. Use Trail Boss for those light loads. The primer issue will more than likely stop. If not then maybe another powder that will get you the velocity and low recoil you seek. Without giving the primer problem.

My Redhawk used to do that, cylinder would bind with my reloads...it had a pretty tight cylinder gap, I think it was .004 - .005. I opened it up a couple thousands. I think I made it around .006 - .007 and it has never had the problem again

That been about 30 years now I guess...wow...yep I've had it a looong time and it is still a fine shooter.

I love that big old beauty

Simple. The cylinder is binding because the recoil shield on a Redhawk has a step before the case lines up in battery. Your backed-out primers are hanging up on the step on the recoil shield. Increase the load so the primers reseat and your issues will go away.
