amt hardballer 1911 any good?

To add another pile to the AMT heap----had an IAI (Irwindale Arms something or other---basically AMT after bankruptcy).

It was a compact 1911 style in .40 *&*---looked good----too bad looks aren't everything.

It would shoot 2 feet low at 10 yds----kept on raising the adj. sight until the screw and spring flew off------still didn't help. Feeding and reliability were spotty too.

I got new parts for the sight and promptly dumped that POS.

I kept it exactly 1 month---most of that was waiting for parts to come in.

I called Millet as it was a Millet sight on the gun----sent me the parts for free--they didn't have to at all---my mistake and was going to pay all costs---they fixed me right up----too bad the gun the sight was attached to wasn't as good. IAI was no help at all.

My brother and I bought a matching pair of longslides in 1996 if I remember correctly. We thought they were the coolest looking things this side of a Wildey. (We used to date ugly girls too) Mine was completely consistant, you fired, it jammed, you cleared the jam, you fired, it jammed. Yep, pretty derned consistant. When it did fire you needed a crystal ball and a compass to predict where the bullet would hit. My brother's was a little better, stilled jammed reliably, but at least it hit in the same zip code as you were aiming for. Wouldn't have minded so much, but we paid $500 a piece for them. That's alot of coin for boat anchors.
