If you go with a pallet, tote, ammo cans, then goldenrod heater stick thing; you will have some of the best stored ammo in the country. I just have ammo cans on a pallet and it works quite well.
I prefer the .50 cal cans by a large margin. I can usually get more cubic inches for my storage and I seem to have less wasted space in the large ones. I only have a few, mostly filled with 12 ga shells, but that has been my experience....30 caliber size would likely work fine...
Sadly, the days of cheap ammo cans have passed. I was in an Army/Navy store just last week. Surplus steel .30-Cal ammo cans (in less than pristine condition) were $20 each. .50-Cal (in worse condition) were $25 each.alan said:These surplus ammo containers used to be quite cheap, likely not these days, but they served well.
