Ammo shortage is still going strong

Has anyone been shopping for .357 mag ammo, for example? Check out Midway's site. NOTHING!

I've also been waiting for CCI Stingers .22LR ammo for months. They keep pushing back the in stock date.

Just a couple years ago, EVERYTHING was pretty much always in stock. I knew it would get bad, but really, this is going on a loooong time now with ammo being virtually impossible to find.

I've been finding 357 ammo online quite a bit. Just got a good deal on some Fiocchi. .45 ACP has been harder for me to find...and for a decent price...

I'm seeing a pretty good supply of most cartridges in my area. By "most" I mean, everything except for 44 specials, which by luck, just happens to be the cartridge that brings me to the darn ammo isle.

our wally world have 357 mag two days ago for the first time this year that I'd found 29 bucks a box. They'd just stocked because there was bunches of 45,9mm, 40, and 357 sig....I hit the place at the right time.

Normally 44, and 40 are all that's stocked when I get there.:(

Our local houston gun show was well stocked yesterday. You could have had nearly anything you wanted.

From 222 to 220 swift in the rifle calibers. I even saw 38-55 and 40-65 factory loads yesterday.

Pistol rounds were short in 380, available but 24.95 a box of 50 for FMJ but pretty much everything else was readily availlable. Lots of stock to pick from. The only thing I did not find was 44 automag but then that is kind of rare in factory ammo.

Must just be a local thing.

I've seen just about all popular calibers on the shelf at the Academy stores here except for .380 and .45 ACP. The .45 ACP is hit or miss (I did manage to pick up 400 rounds of WWB over the last couple days) but .380 is non-existent which I hate to see 'cause I've been thinking about getting an LCP but don't want to have a gun I can't feed. Been seeing pretty much everything else from .22 to .357 magnum fairly regularly recently though.

Well how come all my favorite internet sites to get ammo (Ammoman, Midway, Natchez, and Ammo to Go) have jack spit for ammo in stock, and have been that way consistently for at least a year now?

When, exactly will the ammo supplies loosen up again?

When will it decrease?

When everyone stops hoarding and stops going nuts over Obama.

Expect to see lower priced ammo, and lots more of it, in a year or two.

Ammo shortage is still going strong

The "ammo shortage" lasted about 6 weeks here in Delaware, Dicks being hit the hardest. Where do you live? I am able to get pretty much every caliber that I own a gun in. .357, .38, 9mm, .22lr(haven't checked in a while) .380 (fair price) and .45 ACP. Our Dicks has a bunch of .40 as well, even in SD loads. I think if you dig a little I'm sure you will come up with some. If you are a regular in any of your local shops ask the owner to give you a call, the worst that can happen is he or she says no. It's worth a shot.

In Miami, most Walmarts still have little to no ammo. I just found some .40 S&W the other day, but they have a 6 box limit now. I just got my wife to buy some and my sister-in-law too! At least I'm okay on .40 S&W for now.

I've still only been able to buy bulk .22LR ammo twice since February. Cleaned out the local CO-OP months ago. Gander Mt. has plenty but their prices are always horrendous.

Walmart in my area has plenty of .22 Stinger. I was surprised today that they had 100 round boxes of WWB in .45 and .40. I picked up 5 boxes of each, but what I really waned was 9mm. The store clerk said that he would call me when they get some in, we will see. He was a nice young man and offered to call me, so I hope I can give up my weekly runs by there.

The only places that the shortage still seems to be going strong is Walmart and online. Most of the gun shops in my area are pretty well stocked in nearly every calber except .380, and even that's starting to trickle back in though often at premium prices.

As long as people have money to spend on ammunition, remain freaked out about the shortage and are willing to pay any price and buy everything they can find the shortage will continue and the prices will stay high.

For what it's worth, things have improved a lot in my area. Availability is not what it was a couple of years ago, but I have been able to buy reasonable amounts of ammunition at reasonable prices when I need it from local stores.

I was at a large sporting goods store today and they had a good supply of pretty much everything. They even had all types of primers. Earlier this summer the only primers they had were shotgun, and most self-defense calibers were gone. Like others have mentioned, once the shortage is over(which I think isn't too far away), prices are going to go down down down. That's when I'll do my stocking up.

Still having a heck of a time finding any pistol ammo in southern California. When you do find it, the price is triple. Our rino governor :barf: signed the ammo ban into law and the worst of this will start for us in 2010. I was at the brand new super walmart in our town, and I did not even see a place for handgun ammo on the shelf. Hope it gets better for you guys, but I hold out no hope for us.

It does indeed seem that, although becoming a bit more available than before, most of the good stuff is still relatively hard to come by in regards to the most "popular" calibers. However, if you are a .40 S&W fan you are in luck as this ammo seems quite easy to acquire just about everywhere you look. At least this has been my experience.
