Ammo availability/prices in your area

Dick's Sporting Goods has Remington green box on sale. I got three boxes of 50 230gr 45 auto for $18.95ea.

It's funny because right next to the Remington boxes were the "cheap" generic LRN re-manufactured boxes of 150 rounds for $65.

Man, Dick's is as guilty of price gouging as the dealers. Glad I stocked up with them a few months ago when they were still selling boxes of 50 230gr 45 auto at $14.95ea (case price).

Wrothgar, someone told me the factories use the same line for 9mm as 380. That may be a contributing factor. Not sure if its true, but prices are definitely up.

I bought some Win Q4318 9mm NATO 124 gr. yesterday for $14.99/50.

I really didn't need it, so I just bought a couple.

They had a fair selection of ammo, but no .380. They had a few boxes of loose packed Centurion .223 for $450/1k, but I really didn't need any .223.

Went to a gun show in Colorado Springs this morning and the ammo selection was absolutely pitiful. The only notable thing I saw was .454 ammo.

You can find all the guns you want, just not ammo.

Only thing I got was a box of 50 180gr Ranger T for $35. The 165 gr was $10 more expensive. I only got the one box because I knew I'd find the same stuff for cheaper at a store, just a matter of how long it would take me to find it.

And to think I used to turn my nose up at WWB.:p

Now I have 3 cases collecting dust, along with 4 Cases of GDHP's, but wait, there's more,......:D

Here in South Fla. I was in a Bass Pro yesterday and the handgun ammo was non-existant, all calibers, all brands....even the gun selection was pretty picked over. I mail ordered from Cabela's some backordered /380 and .38 spl. I'm in line and when it gets here it gets here...time for a zen-like approach to ammo acquisition and range time.

Ky Checking In...

Here in the SW corner of Ky/NW corner of Tn the issue is the same:

You can catch Wal-Mart with some ammo but you usually have to be there when the truck arrives. Wierd, but I bought some WWB .40 today for $17 per 50 and I bought the last 3 boxes he had left. They survived at this Wal-Mart for almost 24 hours, the clerk could not believe it.

The gun stores have plenty of ammo, except for .223 and 7.62 x 39. The .380 is slightly scarcer than others but it can be found. However, in the gun stores around here the prices are usually about $10 more per 50 than you would spend at Wally World, if they had any.

Here in west Texas...

9mm and 45ACP is usually available, but prices are rising, even at Wally World. Blazer Brass has been in stock at good prices from time to time.

.380 is nonexistent, though.

.38/.357 is hit or miss, usually miss.

Price Update

For those of you checking out Wally World.

WWB Value Pack in 9mm $19.97

And they actually had a good bit in stock before my buddy found it, hit them up and then gave me a call.

I was nice and left 7 behind for the next guy. Guy before me cleaned out the last of the .40 WWBVP, he didnt get much but still wipped them out of .40 WWBVP. All that was left when I walked away was 1 WWB 45, 1 WWB 40 (looked kinda beatup like it was kicking around the back room for a while and found as an orphan with some other stuff) and the 7 WWBVP that I left. Then the assorted shotgun shells and rifle ammo. But that was it for popular handgun calibers. The lady working the counter said the shipment came out of the back room starting at about 10am Sunday morning and when I got there at 6pm they had already sold 19 WWB .45, 20 WWBVP in .40 and as of when I left 33 WWBVP in 9mm.

Have to mark that one down as a Saturday night / Sunday morning visit to check stock.

.380 and 9mm seem to be the first going. Gander Mtn. here nearby was completely wiped out of everything in .380; big gap in the top shelf. The 9mm's were here and there. .40 and .45 are pretty easy to come by, and .44. .357 seems to be beginning to join the 'hard to find' group now. Damn .45 and .40 at Gander are up to $30/box now for UMC's! Never really bought ammo there before, and sure as hell ain't gonna start now. I didn't even pay that much for a box of Gold Dots when I went over to one of my usual stops; smaller shop in a smaller town nearby, he always pretty much has what I'm looking for. Nice to have a 'secret' stash ;) I haven't been to the Dick's nearby to check lately.

In jan I paid $40.00 for 50 230g +p HST.I drew the line at $40.00 for 50 WWB 110g 357'syesterday.

No shortage?

That's about what we pay here in OK. up to 28$ for .45. Everybody that says there ain't no ammo is just saying I'm not willing to pay more than 10bucks a box for it. When the .22 or .380 comes in; it's usually rationed at 1 too 2 boxes or bricks at a time.
