American disgrace

Judge: I, too, salute you. Your story of your parents allowing you to fall reminded me of a signature line I saw at thecops.net site: Falling is not failing, not getting up is failing.

I was going to write "God bless you" but I think HE already has. And HE has blessed the rest of us with your presence here.

Judge B,

I'm glad you can stand. Glad about the literal version, but proud as can be of the real/correct/other interpretation. Too many people today won't stand for anything, literal or figurative. Respect or just plain kindess of offering someone else their chair. Much less something as esoteric as an old fashioned belief some old piece of paper like the constitution. Or outdated ideas of liberty and justice for all.

Besides the Stars and Stripes, the color red represents the blood that has been shed to protect 'her'. The white represents the purity of spirit. Blue, anyone?

Sir, I'll stand by you any day.

In fact, I have to write more. Not one of us can afford to allow our resolve to slip. We are still the most powerful nation in history. There are still people willing to fight. Even to preserve the rights of the sheeple to continue in apathy.

No other country can defeat us. We can only end our rise by allowing it from inside. Inside the population, inside ourselves. We can only avoid it by continuing to care. By speaking/standing up when it is appropriate. Look around, sure it is depressing that we have to look so hard, but there are others that will stand. Even when we can't see them, we MUST continue to believe they are there.

Don't lose heart, there are still young ones that know and understand the old ways. I have two boys currently serving in the USMC. Consequently I've met several of their peers and officers. Any of us would be proud to have them represent us anywhere on the planet under any conditions. Battle or visit.

My daughter and her husband work for the local PD. Most officers understand what they are really fighting for.

It is not our job to perserve the values in the constitution forever. Ours is only to ensure they are passed along to the next generation. Hopefully in better shape than when we accepted them from our parents, but the first responsibility is to pass them along.

Sad, truly sad. I'm afraid it's only going to get worse. Even common manners are out the door, not only with kids, but their parents (any wonder)? Parents today (born '55-'70, approx), are continuing their ME GENERATION thru their kids.

I'm thankful my folks raised me up right. I'll pass it to my kids (8,7,5) who know why:

1. We say the Pledge.
2. We use our manners.
3. We call elders "Mr." or "Mrs."
4. We celebrate Presidents day.
5. Dad wears a POW bracelet.
6. We don't root for Pro players who are felons.

They also know the 4 rules for handling firearms.
