Amazed By The Kel-Tec P32

I just picked up my Kel-Tec P32 today. I am quite amazed by this little pistol. A few rounds and I am a believer. This is no toy but a very precise and practical instrument. How in the world did they do this in such a small light package? Even my baby Jetfire seems like a brick compared to this little cloud in the hand.

I know many of you out there would poo poo the .32. But this litte pistol is so light and small, it can be taken places no .38 or 9mm would dare. A heck of a lot more effective than a knife. If you have not held one, or shot one, you really have no idea.

The P32, it seems, is one of those feats of engineering that can be called a breakthrough. A very impressive firearm.

It's pretty great alright. Did you get the hard chrome upper? I've posted it so many times that people must be getting sick of reading it by now, but I just had a gray grip frame, silver trigger shoe, hard chrome pocket clip, and a hard chrome, smooth finish ejector installed in my chrome version. Plus all new springs and internals. My P-32 is a work of art! It also shoots the new longer Cor-Bon .32ACP ammo VERY well. I'm very happy with my P-32.

Hey Kentuck,

No, mine is blued. I like blued guns. They remind me, like a woman, that I have to take care of her. I am not a fan of "duo-tone" guns. I really like all black. Better at concealment. Shiny stuff draws attention.

It is pretty fantastic when you look back at all the other .32 pistols. I mean, for crying out loud the Walther PPK of James Bond fame is a .32 with the same amount of rounds. Given all of this, and JB's fondness for a .25 Beretta, I think he would approve.

The P32 is one heck of a firearm.

I couldn't agree more. The P-32 is a really neat little gun. Accurate, reliable, and easily pocketable. I hate to admit it, but I just got rid of my Beretta Jetfire. The Jetfire was also a great little gun but after carrying the P-32 I just didn't have much use for the Jetfire. There just wasn't any useful purpose (I could think of) for the Jetfire that the P-32 couldn't serve better. I got a good trade in price and used it to purchase a Kel-Tec P-11.

So happy with my P-32 that I got rid of the Tomcat, had no use for a larger, fatter, heavier, same caliber pistol.

The P32 is great, but never underestimate a knife up close. At a couple of feet distance, I'd give the "edge" to a good man with a knife over a P32.

Good guy, if you have a gun you're supposed to engage a knife-wielder before he gets within a couple of feet. Still, I concede your point; at contact distance, a knife in skilled hands is more dangerous than many gun-toters think.

As for the P32, Brad's first impression is the right one. It's an amazing piece of work. I bought my wife one. She loves it.

Oh no...I am becoming infected with Gotta have it syndrome....

Make mine chrome with water pistol blue lower:)

Well, I had been reading and posting questions about the Kel Tec p32 for awhille, and I just got mine, so I figure I'll plug those guys at Kel Tec again.

I ordered the pistol through a dealer on Tuesday, and on Thursday (yes, Thursday- even with the 4th of july holiday) it arrived! Like everyone here has said, the service at Kel Tec just can't be beat!

It really is an amazing pistol! The keys in my left pocket are heavier than a loaded p32 in my right!

I missed this thread at first. I caught the bug too and got a p-32 last night. I have been shooting a p-11 for a while and am really impressed with it, but this 32 is so small and light it is like not carrying anything in the pocket. A friend has one and likes it alot as a pocket gun. The nice thing about these is that you can have SOMETHING at times when no other carry would be possible. I know this caliber is limited--but something is better than nothing.
I too wonder about the best ammo for this one-any suggestions?

I agree, after getting the p11 first and the p32 a year later, I'm just amazed at the simplicity of it and it's fun to work on too. I've been carving down the slide on my p11 to look more walther like and did a bit on the p32 to. I think they call it melting. Gotta love the design. Lot's of folks think it's cheap POS like my friends but after the melt and buff stuff, thry want it bad, and now in Kali, we can't get them anymore. Oh well, time to go to NV.

ENJOY everyone, and glad to know you folks are out there. Now if they could just make a p380!

Yeah, they *did* have one of those. It was called the Grendel P12. :) I just got rid of mine less than a year ago because it was having some problems I got tired of trying to fix and it wasn't reliable enough to carry. But imagine something a little taller and wider than the P32, but it has a double-stack .380 mag. The thing held 11+1 (obviously I bought it a LOOOONG time ago)!! Anyway, it was a finicky little POS and had a horrible trigger, IMO. I was glad to be rid of it.

But I can't wait to get a P32!!

As far as ammo goes, I have fed mine Winchester silver tips and FMJs, PMC FMJ, American FMJ and a couple of other brands. It seems to eat anything, not ammo sensitive at all.

There have been articles suggesting that hollow points are the best defensive rounds and articles stating that FMJs are best for defense. I keep mine loaded with FMJs thinking that if a HP hits a foreign object before penetration it's effect will be minimal. A FMJ will slow less and penetrate more. Multiple rounds at very close range, will probably be required to stop or slow down someone bent on doing you injury. It is strictly a defensive, last ditch weapon.

Not to sound like a broken record ...

but I love mine too. I just got the HC slide and barrel last week (I agree with Brad about shiny guns, but the HC is matte, I think its been bead blasted; my blued slide and barrel were starting to rust after 8 months of deep-concealment carry). Runs perfectly with my carry ammo (silvertips). I could tell that a feed ramp polish and some other minor F&B were done prior to the chroming. I was test-firing it yesterday with the HC slide and found the light-colored slide and orange sight combo make it boringly easy to do fast double-tap head shots at 7 - 10 yards. After getting bored with that, I started shooting at some 6" plates at 25 yards just for fun and was surprised that I could hit them at least 1/2 the time shooting freehand. For its intended purpose, I couldn't think of a more perfect pistol -- though I still carry my K40 when I can conceal it.

Hey P32 Krew, I held one of these at the gunshop the other day and I was just curious if all of you carry it in your pocket with a round in the chamber?

P-32

I got the P-32 bug a couple of years ago. I will send mine down for the hc treatment this winter. I carry mine pretty much all the time, at least when the P-11 is not practical. I really like the P-32.

I use the belt clip for carry most of the time.

Got mine today for "National Buy a Gun Day". Are there any other ammo recommendations out there, specifically with respect to premium hollowpoints?

I just got one yesterday for Nat'l Buy a Gun Day, too. But (admittedly) Arizona Fusilier got a better deal than I did. I can't wait to take it for a test drive!

How much does it cost to get it hard-chromed?
