Am I the only one that feels this way? Laser etching vs. engraving

Laser ingraving and other Cost cutting
Sucks!!
S&W and their PPK/S are the worst of the lot. Won't buy any new smith made gun. I keep my old S&W's Their better made than any of the newer Smiths. Every thing smith has done in last several years is to make the pistol cheaper to make. But you end up paying more for a inferior pistol. Parts, fit, finish, all bad I only buy good used S&W s

Roll marking can be detrimental. Some roll marks are impressed so deeply that they actually cause a constriction under them. (Marks on the barrel of some Marlins have been seen as the cause of inaccuracy, for example.) Laser marks, if properly done, don't have this effect.
I like a well-finished gun, even though it may be cosmetic, it reflects the care and attention to other details that the manufacturer is willing to invest in his product. I have a Ruger Bisley that looks like it was polished on a Friday afternoon by a high school intern. It shoots well, so I'll live with the wavy streaks on the frame. But I don't have to like it!

work of art

Hand engraved and inlayed firearms from the bench of a master engraver are a work if art. Just look at the engraved ones from the 1800's. Just my openion.

Yes I know I cant spell.

Laser marking doesn't bother me in the least.
ANd if it helps keep the cost of the gun down then I'm all for it.
