Am I doomed to the Pit of Despair?

i have had guys at the range after looking at my target, that had all 30 rounds in the head, tell me that i should aim for center of mass if shooting at a human in defense.
so i would say dont fret over it to much, and learn to shoot your gun well.
it can be done, i am willing to bet on it.

I have to agree, the DA pull on the P99 is long & fairly heavy. BUT, the design allows you to cock the gun by simply pulling the slide back 3/8" or so & releasing it. That's not far enough to eject a round, but then you're back to the SA trigger which is short & sweet. Just a thought...

Got a "lil buddy" I shoot with all the time. He has very short fingers. But his 1911's with the thin grips and short trigger work very well for him.

To all,

Thanks for the info/support. Further info- the RO was former Delta Force, and was bouncing an AquaFina bottle at 100 yards with his full-size 1911, so I do not doubt there is validity to what he says. It sounds to me like I need to look into a shorter trigger for my P245. Like HowardK, I have small hands PLUS I'm a lefty, so my handgun choices are quite limited (one reason why I chose a SIG in the first place). There are not many that fit my hand at all, and even fewer that I can get the supposed "proper grip" on. To clarify- the P245 DOES fit my hand, I just can't align it with the long bone of my forearm and still reach the trigger. I will look into getting that shorter SIG trigger, and see how that does.

Ledbetter- more info on the cheap lasers, please?

I would also not be averse to 1911s. I just don't have the $$$$ to buy a Kimber (about the only 1911 I will touch, other than Wilson Combat) and make the necessary modifications. ArmySon also suggested getting a crap $200-300 1911, and having it sent to Steve Clark for custom work. Again, lack of $$$. :(

I also have a " hard to fit " hand. Medium-short fingers and a fairly wide palm with a deep pocket in it. I have a Colt steel commander which has had the grip shortened to Detonics length ( about 3/4" to 13/16" removed ) It still has a full-size working grip safety! This allows the thick ball of my palm to roll UNDER the bottom of the grip, allowing the rest of my palm to snuggle in much closer than with standard 1911-type. Also, at the same time, the small grip makes it MUCH more easily concealed! I have no idea how much it would cost to have this modification done, as it was already ddone when I got it almost 20 years ago.

Greetings,

Cheap laser info follows. Note that this instrument is, in my opinion, good for practice, target shooting and varminting but NOT for personal defense.

Beamshot lasers available at:
http://www.jd-tech.com/laser.htm

get the cheapest one, which is $59.99 including mount and pressure pad on/off switch. Extra mounts are $9.95. Specify pistol; both barrel mounts (for Ruger MkII and similar) and trigger guard mounts are available.

JD's very prompt and friendly to deal with.

Email me if you need more info.

Regards,

Ledbetter
