Alternate concealed carry method when wearing a toolbelt?

Hey guys...

Getting ready for the day when my CCW permit arrives...
Went out with wifey today, and she selected a nice concealment purse. She wishes she had it yesterday, some freak was apparently stalking her outside a local grocery store. Seems there are more nutjobs out there every day....

Anyway, I digress...
I'm a contractor, and occasionally (more so these days ) strap on a toolbelt and work with my guys.
Waistband carry is obviously outta the question under that circumstance. Seems since the shirt is tucked, any type of under-shirt carry wouldn't work either.

Only method I can think of is an ankle holster, which clearly sucks but is all I can think of...

But, that's why I'm here. I know diddly about the subject. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

You have a few options to try, seeing how your working and moving a lot you might try a Belly Band type holster. Just a nylon band that goes around your waits above your pantsline. You just have to untuck your shirt to draw. Also a tuckable IWB would work, but might be uncomfortable for lots of bending over. Pocket carry is also an option, but smaller caliber like .380 is about it. Good luck

I almost always wear cargo pants of some brand or another and the leg pockets are perfect for your favorite "pocket pistol". This allows full movement and secure concealment.

Any chance of fitting some stealth pouch, big enough for an LCP or the like, on the tool belt itself?

+1. Lots of pouch type holsters out there. Most are pretty inexpensive so if you could fix one some how to your belt, you'd be set.

Cargo pants or a fanny pack would also work.

First off, what are you going to be carrying? How to carry/conceal might vary depending on whether you plan to carry a Kel-Tec or a Desert Eagle.

Off the top of my head, I was thinking of using one of the tool belt pouches. Am I safe to assume you have the more-or-less-standard type with two multiple pouches, one on each side? You should be able to devote one to a handgun. Worst case, you might have to take it to a shoe repair shop and ask them to add a retention strap.

Not sure if this would be compatible with a tool belt, but I just got my SmartCarry, and it is awesome for deep concealment in almost any attire.

I'd wear shorts like these but it'd be pornographic.

I carry a 642 in my pants pocket (front). I'm no construction worker or anything but I often wear a tool belt for work around my little hobby ranch.

The pistol in my pocket is never in the way.

Also I shoot some multi gun matches where I have to carry lots of AR mags and pistol mags. I use an Vietnam era web gear with pistol belt, suspenders (load bearing gear) with mag pouches, etc.

Again my pocket pistol doesn't get in the way.

Actually the only time I've noticed a revolver in my pocket in the way or creating discomfort is when I'm shooting HP or GSM matches where, when shooting prone, I tend to be laying on the pistol. That's about the only time I have to take it out of my pocket. However when that happens you can't really consider me being un-armed :)

+1 for pocket carry. For situations like this I put my j frame S&W 442 in a desanti nemesis pocket holster and rarely ever even notice it's there. Now that the weather is warming up I will be pocket carrying more often, hard to conceal my M&P 9c, or my Kimber pro carry II when wearing shorts and a smaller tshirt.

I may need to get a pocket .380...
Although, that will be awkward at best. Tool belt pouches hang down over the pants pockets.

My primary carry will be a CZ-82 (9mm Mak). Too big for pocket carry...

I can't think of any way to carry in any type of "pouch" on the belt itself where the pistol will remain fully concealed from view at all times.
Primary motivation for this is the fact that we've recently started doing some nighttime remodels for a large grocery chain, and walking out to the truck to get something at 3:00 a.m. in some of these neighborhoods is "interesting"...

Thanks, guys.

Men should not carry a gun pointed at their groin...

Nobody should carry in a manner that the gun points at any part of their anatomy...... I can't imagine an AD/ND of the gun in the "smartcarry" pic above would be any more or less painful for a female than a male...... looks like a bullet leaving that gun would track down the inside of the left thigh.....

Carrying a gun in "Smartcarry"/"Thunderwear" (or any other floppy holster, for that matter) just does not seem that smart, to me....... a stiff holster that blocks the trigger seems to be a better idea. YMMV.

How about:
put a regular holster inside a cordless drill holster and make some kind of top

If the belt has a pocket for a large tape measure a small pistol may fit inside it and make some kind of top.

Forget about a firearm and just use a nailgun for SD when on the job..................:D

Depending on what you are going to carry you might want to get a vest. Sportsman's Guide sells them pretty reasonable. I'm wearing one as I speak with a .380 Mustang in it. It has a lot of other pockets for cell phone, pencils, keys, cigs, whatever. It's also washable. The label say Blue Stone Safety Products. www.bluestonesafety.com. this site also has bellybands, but you might find the vests and bellybands cheaper on Sportsmans Guide.
I got the black vest.

Do you really feel the need when you are actively working with your crew to be armed? If the answer is yes, then look at cargo pants/shorts and pocket carry accordingly. if the answer is not really, then leave your CCW locked in your truck until you take the belt off for lunch or going home and place it back where it belongs. IMO, there are times when not having one immediately on your person is not that big of a deal - unlike a previous person who said they have one in their shower.............

oneounce, please see my post #14.
I don't feel the need to be armed on the job- it's walking out to the truck in an unlit parking lot, at 3:00 a.m. in the "hood", that sparked my post.

Then again, I'm of the opinion that if I'm gonna carry, I'm gonna carry all the time (at least whenever practical). If I knew if/when I was ever going to need it, I'd only carry it then...

Cargo pants with big pockets, and a snubbie or .380 in a pocket holster sounds like the solution. Thanks.

Undercover protection

Here is a possiblty of a undercover workwear, And I am not so shortsighted as carrying, I carry around everyone family included. I do not know whats is in the minds of those family members, or known aquaintances, weather they are my friends or employee's if they were to snap or not I do not feed the need to explain my stance for reasons why I carry, I do so to have that option on a means to protect myself against friends or foe's, I want to live.... but here's a link to what I am thinking of http://www.nrastore.com/nra/Product.aspx?productid=682b-w. Congrats on you and your wife taking LIFE not for granted.
