All this CZ talk's peaking my interest...

Do the Promag 15 rounders rattle when fully loaded? I`ve heard they sometimes do and I know my factory 10 rounder does. OTOH the 15 round factory mag is quiet as a mouse. Marcus

Oh, this is good. An excuse to open the safe. I had to find out, since I had the usual plugs and muffs on at the range.

And the answer is...please wait, loading...1-7 no rattle, 8 rattles, 9 doesn't, 10 rattles, 11 doesn't, 12 rattles, 13 doesn't, 14 rattles, and 15 doesn't. Odd numbers are good!

Good question! John

Ok,I'm hooked. I put my CZ-75B (w/10 and 15rnd mags) on layaway yesterday. This will give me time to stock up on 9X19. Cheesy thumb rest grips and phillips head screws will have to go. Probably will just get stock CZ grip panels from CZ and some slotted head screws from Brownell's (Hogue)to make it complete. It's going to be a great winter carry piece!! :D

I just recieved and installed new Hogue checkered cocobolo wood grips on my 75B mil. today. Wow! What a difference from the crummy thumb rest grips. The Hogues are MUCH thinner and fit the gun better than the stock ones. They actually reduced the trigger reach a bit too and made DA mode more comfy. Almost as important, they`re GORGEOUS! :D Marcus

Pictures, pictures!

I have been looking at the EAA/Tanfoglio (Witness) copies of the CZ. A local gun shop has the full-size steel and a compact polymer for $279. How do these compare in terms of quality/reliability with the "real" CZ's and is this about the going rate? Unless I hear bad news I'm planning on ordering a compact poly 45 over the weekend.

the eyetalian copys are probably OK for the price but for less than 40 bucks you can get the real thing. :)

I agree. I have nothing against the Witness line but why buy a copy when you can have the real thing? You may wanna look into some of the compact and lightweight CZs before you jump on the EAA. Marcus

Actually the Witness frame mounted safety pistols, except for the extended tang, are closer to the original CZs than the new CZ75Bs. Witness pistols are a dicey deal, you might get a stellar pistol or you might get one that needs to go in for service. IMHO CZ has better QC.

"Actually the Witness frame mounted safety pistols, except for the extended tang, are closer to the original CZs than the new CZ-75Bs." Explain. The only changes I`m aware of on the 75B are the firing pin safety, trigger guard, hammer spur and the sight rib on top of the slide. You`ve got me curious. :) Marcus

For better or worse I ordered the Witness yesterday. Compact Polymer 45, Wonderfinish (yeah-hokey name) silde. I didn't see a poly 45 on the CZ web site, and for what it was worth, I couldn't find a dealer in my area that carried the "real" CZ. My dealer claims (who wouldn't) that they have had good luck with this gun. Like the way it feels, hope I didn't screw up. Should be in in about a week, will be finding out soon.

CZ doesn`t make a poly .45 you`re right. I have a friends with a poly compact .45 Witness who`s very happy with it. They seem to generally be good guns. I`ll probably end up with one eventually too in a configuration or caliber not offered my CZ. I`ve always wanted one of their 10mm Bren X (sorta)look alikes. :D Marcus

WOW, you guys LOVE your CZ's! I've got a couple of other things lined up right now, but as soon as I'm stable (financially, I'll never be mentally  ) and I'm ready for a fun-gun, a CZ will be at the top of my list!

Thanks for all the great input, info, and links!

Marcus,

"The only changes I`m aware of on the 75B are the firing pin safety, trigger guard, hammer spur and the sight rib on top of the slide. You`ve got me curious."

The back strap on the original CZ75s is more like the Tanfoglio pistols than the newer CZs. I find the old style backstrap more comfortable for my hands.

Since all CZ-75s take the same grips I assume you must mean the contour accross the backstrap is different? I`m new to CZs so trivia like this is very interesting to me. No flame intended but,if this detail is the only thing more true to the original CZ75 design then it seems to me that CZ`s own 75B is much more true to the original than it`s Italian counterpart,no? Marcus

It's easier to post pics than to explain the differences. Look at the Witness pistol below:

Now look at the CZ75

Compare these to a pisture of an early CZ

Details make the difference. The early CZs and Witness pistols fit me like a glove while the newer CZs chafe my hand, especially in rapid fire.
