All the ammo in Wal Mart, Academy, etc. is gone.

Conspiracy Confirmed!

The other day I was driving in Southern Nevada. I was near area 51. You won't believe what I saw.

There was a huge flying saucer sitting in the middle of the desert. WalMart delivery trucks were lined up next to it. There must have been two hundred trucks, each with two trailers. I saw Elvis and JFK unloading crates of ammo from the trucks and putting them on the UFO. I snapped dozens of photos. I can't explain it, but none of the pictures turned out.

Now you all know where all the ammo is going. I hope I have been helpful.;)

Ammo shortage? Walmart still has plenty of

the best defense round available to a citizen. I was at Walmart this morning and I saw boxes and boxes of 00 Buck 12 ga in their cabinet. 15 rds for $10.

Just 'cause a hallway full of 00 might deter a crook more than a lonely lil' 165 grainer headed downrange doesn't mean people don't want or need to practice with anything else. That's where Walmart's the big help. Nearest Walmart was completely out of pistol ammo last weekend. I got the last three 50-boxes of .45 at Dick's, at their very-much-retail price. :barf:

I like 00 buck as much as the next guy (more probably) but it sure is hard to fit my 870 in my pocket and carry it around all day.

:D.

I wish Walmart had some .380 every now and again........

I usually can find 250rnds of .40sw for 70$ and 250rnd boxes of 9mm for 50$ at walmart. I went shooting last weekend and payed 18$ per box of 50 of each because walmart is out of almost everything. If you are keeping track that is 8 cents more per round in .40 and 16 cents per round iin 9mm. Its ridiculous.

I went running around DFW this morning to get some handgun target ammo. I struck out on 9mm 115 gr & 380 Auto. Cabela's in Ft. Worth has a good selection & plenty of .45 ACP 230 gr in stock (for now). I bought the last boxes of .38 wadcutters they had. Academy Sports & Outdoors, (Dallas, Forest Ln), has a few boxes of .32 ACP and .22 LR , pretty much nothing else. My co-worker looked in Plano for me at the Walmart and Academy, no luck on 9mm & 380. If anyone in the DFW area knows where I can find some please divulge.

I think its starting to turn around abit. It's been alot easier for me to get ammo lately, both at the shops and Walmart. Now if I could only find a local G26...

Here in Reno, no 9mm or .223, sportsmans warehouse bare, cabela's bare, all 5 walmarts bare. Checked 3 gun stores mostly bare except for the premium defense ammo. Fourth gun store found some pmc fmj and bought their last two boxes. FWIW the gun store owner said alot of import ammo is being held up at the ports and just sitting there. Dont know. I worked at a gun store back in the clinton days and the original AWB. We had no ammo shortage then, just black gun shortage.

Great news... Here where I live, CDNN has bought up all the 223 ammo from both our Walmarts.... ~$34,000 worth.
No kidding.

Enough of the public complained and the manager of the southside store has put a limit on quantities.
Now, here I sit with a box of 100 Federal 223, 55gr FMJ's, and the store has plenty more. $40 per box.
Sometime soon, maybe a week, they will be getting in several hundred cases of Fed 223 55gr JHP's in 200 round boxes.... $76 per box.

Harass your local store owners and managers.
Tell your friends to do the same.
"Making the sale" may be a good thing, but if the customer base is neglected, it is bad business.

Actually rationing will probably help a lot.

People go into Wal-Mart to buy a box of ammo. There's NONE there. That's the first time they've EVER heard of that happening so it worries them.

Next time they're in, they see that there are 5 boxes in stock. So they buy all 5 and Wal-Mart is out of ammo again. And they're still worried so they decide they will come back after the next shipment to see if they can buy more.

Another guy comes in later to buy a box and they're out--the cycle repeats but now there are two worried guys. And so on, and so on, and so on...

On the other hand, if a guy walks in and there is ammo on the shelves, he'll be comforted that if he needs ammo he can just go in and buy some anytime. So instead of panicking and buying 5x more than he intended, he just gets what he came for and leaves with a box or two.

The problem right now is that people are panicked, and everywhere they turn their panic is being reinforced by empty ammo shelves. Seeing some ammo on the shelves will go a long way to helping people get rational again.

So one guy goes through line 20 times. With rationing prices will trend up. The marginal utility of the second box is irrelevant as they will not sell it to you anyways.

In the 1970s, at the height of the Jimmy Carter gas shortage, Johnny Carson joked about a toilet paper shortage. For the next 3 weeks, TP was almost impossible to find. Shortages can be created by word of mouth.

The owner of the local hardware store wants me to start a rumor that Obama is going to ban nuts and bolts.

So one guy goes through line 20 times.
You're missing the point. If there's ammo on the shelves then a LOT fewer people panic and a LOT fewer people WANT to buy 20 boxes. Fewer people panicking and trying to make bulk buys HAS to help the situation.
With rationing prices will trend up.
If the rationing is successful at keeping ammo in stock and reducing demand (through reducing panic) then it should actually bring prices down. What really makes prices skyrocket is when the shelves are always empty. Then the guy who has one box can ask whatever he wants for it and you have to pay if you want it.

The limit is set at four boxes per person.
That's not bad. Once you factor in the guys that hit several registers with the limit, they can buy more... BUT, they can't buy it all.

When one merchandizer is allowed to buy ALL the stock from a consumers market...
That is what drives prices up.

For your consideration...
A box of 200 rounds of Fed 223 50gr JHP at Walmart ... $77
The exact same ammo from the guy that bought it all... CDNN... $129.99
Of course, you had to be on the mailing list to get the special "find".
Anyone else get the CDNN e-mail about ammo?
