All the ammo in Wal Mart, Academy, etc. is gone.

I think it's pretty amusing as well... Wal-Mart and several Academy's are sold OUT! They said since HIS election they've been selling guns, ammo, cleaning kits, and hearing protection like crazy. When I find it, I stock up. This country is doomed...

Actually, yes they can - if you are inside the store, you have likely given an implied consent to search, or at the very least to detain you until the police arrive. Otherwise, they would never be permitted to stop and hold shoplifters.
Don't quit your day job. Implied consent has no application here.
The Walmart door warcher has no police powers. A polite "no thank you" and continue on to your car will suffice.
Actually, it's pretty common for states to have statutes allowing merchants to detain shoplifters. See http://www.expertlaw.com/library/security/shoplifting.html Realistically, unless they OBSERVED you place something under the coat--and obviously they didn't since it was your gun rather than a pack of steaks-- they aren't going to hold you if you refuse to allow them to search you for fear of a false imprisonment claim against the merchant.

Just before Christmas, I bought all the Winchester .40 S&W the two Walmarts in my area had in stock. 2400 rounds total. :D

Walmart Ammo

Anyone in the Los Angeles area tried to buy ammo at Walmart? If you're near me in Whittier their ammo is always sold out. A bunch of us have been calling around to all the Walmarts buying up all the ammo we can find but it's not much. During our ammo hunt we got to know some Walmart managers pretty good and we're informed that a certain local gun shop is going around buying up all the ammo and I assume reselling it for a profit. I'm specifically talking about 9mm and 45 acp. Just yesterday I was talking to a manager and he told me that there were other guys asking about the next ammo delivery and I asked him "oh you mean that gun store"? I won't name the store but he said yeah, they keep asking every day. This really makes me angry. Walmart sells 45 acp for 14.95 and 9mm for just under $9. If you buy ammo in places other than Walmart you know the prices we pay for target ammo. :mad: Has anyone else had similar Walmart problems in L.A.?

I have five Wal-Marts in my area and all look like the buzzards have picked the ammo shelves clean.

If this was simply a supply and demand thing, Wal-Mart would still get some regular shipments from their warehouses. None of the Wal-Marts in my area have had a fresh shipment of ammunition in weeks, and each tell the same story of the warehouse not having any in stock.

Wal-Marts buying power puts them at the top of a short list of favored retailers for most manufacturers. If Wal-Mart is not getting ammunition shipments, then something bigger is going on. What that is, only Wal-Mart knows.

gglass you've got a point but what they do get is gone almost immediately and I've had no trouble getting ammo at any Turners or other gun store. While I know people are stocking up, as am I, I now know for a fact that this local gun shop is buying it up and I wonder how many other gun shops are doing the same thing. I mean it only makes sense that if you had a business and someone was undercutting you that much, you might do something like buying up the cheap stuff so people would have to buy your more expensive stuff because you can't get near Walmarts buying power and there is no way you could compete with their prices and make a profit. It's a survival thing.

Ammo shortage

I was wanting to go shooting this weekend so I went ot Walmart to buy some ammo and they are about out. Talking to the guy behind the counter he said that for that past several months that they have been having problems with the manufacturers not being able to keep up the supply and demand. Not just in any certain caliber but in all of them .22 included.

The Wal Marts in my area of Florida always have an assortment fo ammo. I have never failed to get at least a 100 rounds each of 9MM, 40 cal and 12 ga shotshellson every visit. The price is +/- $14 for Blazer and WWB and $5.50 for #6 to #8 shot. The gun store prices in West Palm Beach are ridiculous, cheaper to buy off the net even with the shipping charges.

Don't worry boys with no guns you will not need ammo:

Gun control and Ban Bill Introduced

HR 45 was introduced which bans all semi automatic weapons and all handguns While we are all focused on the economy Obama and his minions are slipping gun control through the back door as a health and safety issue.

Also:
1. Require licensing for anybody that owns a gun.
2. Would require photographs and a thumbprint
3. Would require passage of a test that covers:
(A) the safe storage of firearms, particularly in the vicinity of persons who have not attained 18 years of age;
(B) the safe handling of firearms;
(C) the use of firearms in the home and the risks associated with such use;
(D) the legal responsibilities of firearms owners, including Federal, State, and local laws relating to requirements for the possession and storage of firearms, and relating to reporting requirements with respect to firearms; and
(E) any other subjects, as the Attorney General determines to be appropriate;
Some other interesting points of the Bill
Section 102 (a) (1) a current, passport-sized photograph of the applicant that provides a clear, accurate likeness of the applicant; (what is wrong with a DL?)
Section 102 (a) (8) an authorization by the applicant to release to the Attorney General or an authorized representative of the Attorney General any mental health records pertaining to the applicant; (that sounds rather intrusive)
Section 103 (c) looks to be creating a federal firearms card, with your picture and information. This from the Party that goes ballistic over a national ID card.

Local Bass Pro the other day had some 9x19. That was pretty much IT for pistol ammo. No .38 whatsoever. There was one bulk pack of .45ACP. I didn't see any .40. They had plenty of small-pellet shotgun ammo and some buckshot. Bulk packs of .22LR were $20. I bought some .22shorts but that was it. :(

Old news, Mr Phil.

My Walmarts Store manager has made a limit of 4 boxes of ammo per day. No matter what it is. They search a database for the name on the credit card or (id) before the sale takes place. But mine has had ammo the past few times I have stopped in the other ones that do not have this policy are always out.

I think most of the local stores were purchasing all of it at a time and the manager got smart.

price?

I shoulden't, but I'm going to say it. When I can buy 100rds wwb at wal-mart for $20 and the next cheapest gun store is $38, for the same thing...:barf:

I HATE wal-mart. I'd pay four to six dollars more to a local gun shop just to keep the money out of wal-mart. But nearly TWICE as much? If they would get some reasonable prices, they would not need to worry about survival. Local gun shops need to get into buying co-op's. Or do somthing, good greif.

Here in northeast indiana ...
walmart 9mm is gone in all 3 fort Wayne and Warsaw locations, i have not tried Wabash.

What I have noticed at a couple walmarts in the area is that they dont refill the ammo stock through out the day. So if you go on a week day later at night (11'ish) when they are restocking you should be able to get what you need. I'm starting to think that they do not do any restocking during the day. Also, most of us walmart ammo shoppers know that the sporting goods section is the most understaffed department in the store. Maybe try asking a clerk if they have anything in the back?

Some Walmart managers will special order ammo for you, and call you when it comes in, that way, the lgs asshat can't buy it all up.
