Algore picks Joe Leiberman!

...And the media is painting him as a moderate! Actually, this is a perfect choice for "Regulating Al," because Leiberman has never seen a gun that he didn't want to ban, or a tax he didn't want to impose. What do you guys think?

Senator Leiberman, GOA rating "F"; Could have been worse, but not by much.

Given some of the noises they put out before going public with this choice, I think it's obvious that they plan to label anyone who attacks Leiberman as an anti-semite. Perhaps JPFO ought to be the point man on this fight.

Too bad there are plenty of real anti-semites out there. Talk about his record and never mention his religion. Unfortunately, if you read enough gun lists, you see postings deliberately bigoted against Jews. Hopefully, this list is above that and most pro-gun folk are better than that.

Which ever book of fables Joe reads, or whatever kind of "beanie" he wears, is of little difference to me. His Marxist freedom-hateing ideas are right in line with Algore's. That's what bothers me.

A Jewish man who married Mom's Sister is responsible for the gun-loving nut that I am today.

He lost family in WWII and has made sure that his family will be able to fight back.

There are more gun-grabbing Gentiles by far because there are more Gentiles! Don't let ignorance blind you. We hear from a few high-profile people who hate guns and happen to be Jewish. I assure you there are more pro-gun Jewish people than not. Most still remember what happened in the 30's and 40's.

As to Leiberman, I can think of many more that would have been worse. Bob Kerrey (SP) would have created a team that could have offered a serious challenge to Bush/Cheney.

Actually, I think that Clinton snookered Gore into picking Lieberman in order to help Hillary win her Senate campaign.

I don't see how this pick will help Gore win the Presidency. Whenever you have a person from a new ethnic, gender, religous background etc. They will usually only be successful if they break in as a member of the more conservative party. Example Al Smith, democrat-Catholic (lost). Margarat Thatcher Conservative-woman (won).

This will be an interesting election.

I heard something yesterday about Lieberman having credibility because he criticized Clinton a lot. I don't see how that helps Al Gore all that much, since they can't bring it up without giving the Repubs the chance to ask why Al Gore said Clinton would be remembered as the greatest President in history and Clinton said (just a few weeks ago) that Gore was the best Veep in American history. That puts both of them above people like Jefferson, for crying out loud!

It's interesting that Lieberman's home state of Ct. allows him to accept the V.P. slot, and still campaign for his very safe Senate seat. He may have been the only prospect with a no-risk situation.

Lieberman is called a 'moderate' because he belongs to the DLC - Democratic Leadership Council. I belonged (past tense folks - past tense) to the DLC when I lived in Alabama. The DLC is what Clinton formed to try to win the White House for democrats and to fight the 'ACLU liberal' tag. Trust me, the DLC class I went to was nothing more than the regular liberal Demo's. However, Clinton did such a good job painting it as not liberal, that it is hard to fight.

How ANYONE could see a Democrat from Conn/Mass/NY as conservative/moderate is beyond me. Lieberman will be as liberal as they come.

I agree. JFPO is the group to hangle this one.

"Glock 26: 17 rounds of concealed carry DEATH comming your way from out of nowhere!!! THAT'S FIREPOWER, BABY!!!"

Lieberman made a lot of noise on the Senate floor when the Monica story broke, but then fell into lockstep with the Dems during impeachment. They get to have it both ways, as ususal. Still, I don't see any great upside to this pick. Kerry would have had more "oomph." But then, maybe Al doesn't want someone outshining him. There is, of course, the Hillary connection that Mr. Pub alluded to.

REMARKS BY THE PRESIDENT
TO THE TRAVEL POOL

U.S. Coast Guard Station
West Chop Lighthouse
Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts

12:00 Noon EDT

Q What do you make of Gore's selection of Senator Lieberman?

THE PRESIDENT: Well, first of all, this is a very important
choice, and the Vice President is going to make his announcement
tomorrow, so I don't want to comment on that. But I'll be glad to tell
you what I think of Senator Lieberman. He's been a friend of mine for
30 years. I supported him when I was a law student at Yale and he was
running for the state Senate -- he wasn't even 30 years old then. And
I think he's one of the most outstanding people in public life.

I've worked with him for 15 years or more through the Democratic
Leadership Council. He's a bold thinker, he's always full of new ideas.
And he's supported the changes that we've made over the last eight years
that have turned America around and moved America forward. I think he's
just an extraordinary guy. I like him. I know his family. I like his
family members whom I know. I just think he's an amazing person.

And we've talked a lot over the years about the Middle East peace
process and every conceivable domestic issue. He's an extraordinary,
extraordinary human being, as well as a longtime friend of mine. So I
think he's terrific.

I think that the important thing now is -- I know you'll will have
a lot of questions you want to ask me and everybody else, but I'd rather
not say anything else today. Let's let the Vice President make his
announcement tomorrow, and then I'll be glad to answer any other
questions you have.

But I think right now, you just need to know that I think he's
wonderful and he's been a wonderful friend to me
and he's been great for
America these last eight years, with what he's done in the Senate. And
he's been great for our party, with what he's done through the
Democratic Leadership Council. So I'm very happy about Joe Lieberman.
But I think we ought to let the announcement be made by the Vice
President. You guys ask the questions later. I'll be ready to answer
all the questions.

Q Thank you.

Hillary must have some real dirt on Gore to get this one. The Dems are foundering but the future first female prez is water skiing! Or so she hopes. Does Leiberman know he`s been set up? Time will tell.

When Kennedy was running for President the media mentioned ( more than once ) that he was a Roman Catholic . Ties to The Vatican may cloud his judgement blah blah blah . Now about 40 years later the radio was busy today identifying Lieberman as a Jew . Why ? What faith is Al Gore ? What faith is Rush Limbaugh ? What faith is the Gov. of your State ?
The media is shameless AGAIN !! If Dubya would say " I see Gore has chosen a Jew for a running mate ." They would be all over him as an anti Semitic hate mongerer who is probably secretly in The KKK .
They even interviewed Rabbi Hier from The Wiesenthal Center about this . Now the average guy that depends on the news show to keep him abreast of things must be wondering what impact being a Jew has on a candidate .
If they say it then it is news . If you say it then it is racist .Next fear is that if something happens to Gore ( if he wins ) what effect will it have to our views towards The Middle East . Will a Jewish President treat The Palistinians fairly ? Will he pardon Pollard , the spy presently in prison ? Will The White House go condo ? ( That's a joke ) I think you see what I am saying . The media has set a trap for the whole country . Now we will have 2 sets of polls . Among voters and among Jews .
On the other hand maybe he knows he's dead meat and is just giving Hillary a boost . " Fall on your sword O valiant AL ."
