AK-47 help

thanks for all the input. I posted without much direction with the intent on doing my research after getting some good wheels to start my search. lots of info to digest and lots of research. I appreciate all the info and suggestions.

If you're dead set on the Ak platform, I'd recommend a saiga in all honesty.

Yep, this.

If you go the WASR route look for the WASR-10/63 rifles.

My Russian 5.45 is definatly a better quality over my WASR though. If you want the pistol grip configuration plan on spending a tad bit more to either do it yourself or have it done/buy one already set up.

You mentioned the Dracos, I'm setting to get one and SBR it. They are pistols so you aren't going to get rifle performance from them and accuracy is gonna be exactly what it is for a pistol that shoots 7.62x39 - although there's some 5.56 calibers out there too that may be more manageable but some people avoid 5.56 in an AK.

My opinion is that kit guns are not worth the trouble, effort or money- I stay the heck away from them. When I say kit gun, I mean any AK variant rifle that uses a U.S receiver. If I were going to buy another AK system rifle I would choose:

1. Polytech AKS (postban)
2. MAK-90
3. SAR-1
4. WASR

note- I have no issue with the typical U.S made compliance parts (922r) normally associated with AK's, I just have not liked any U.S made receivers on any rifle thus far.
