I've owned a Webley Hurricane in .177 since 1983, a Beeman C-1 carbine since 1987, and picked up quite a few other airguns since, such as a BSA Meteor, a Daisy 717 and a couple of Predom Luczniks.
I like .22 CB longs, but the price is a real turnoff compared to generic .177 pellets. IMHO a lot of people are drawn to too-powerful airguns. 700 fps in .177 will shoot through quite a bit of game, and be quite a bit quieter than something in the 900-1000 fps region.
