i lent a buddy my kel tec p32 to cary for a few days so he could see if he likes it or not.

i wasnt planning on going anywhere, but the cabelas urge got me.

so i got my xd40sc out of the truck, with my bladetech uch holster.

i was annoyed! heavy, bulky, tugging on my belt, etc...

i dont see how you full sized gun guys do it!? i cant imagine lugging a 4" revolver, or 1911, around in my pants.

"mouse" guns are great!

P6 with a good stiff belt. 5.11 Tactical makes a pretty good casual one. Crossbreed Supertuck to spread that weight out. I'm actually more comfortable with this rig a lot of times than I am when I carry my 642. Go figure! :D

I bet the bad guys don't lug one around all day either. Just put it on to go do a "job". Sadly, since they have no set schedules, the good guys have to be ready all the time. Notice police do wear heavy duty belts and such all the time to help support the "burden". Maybe weight is the primary appeal of poly guns for them. Maybe your mouse will suffice as your basic requirement is to suprise the bad guys or get them off guard as a last resort. Not something to go to war with.

I understand. I had a CHL but didn't reliably carry a gun until I got a P32. I tried to carry a Sig 229, a full-size 1911, and a Bersa .380. But after a short period of discipline, the gun stayed home. Then, I bought a P32 and I carried it every day for years. Front pocket carry and a true pocket gun made a big difference.

But I never really liked .32 Auto and the teeny little gun seemed like a joke.

Then, I discovered that I could actually carry an aluminum-frame snubnose .38 just as easily as I had the P32. It's a much bigger gun, but apparently the rounded shape conceals much better in a front pocket than the print-loving automatic pistol shape.

It's easy all you have to do is wear it IWB long enough for it to stretch out your belt to the point that you have to wear it or your pants will fall down!

Different strokes for different folks.

I pack an Officer size 1911 and don't know why people pack mouse guns?

In actuality, I have always recommended that someone carry the largest caliber gun they are comfortable with. And that gun must be comfortable for their hand. Guns of the same caliber do come in different sizes. If your gun is "right" for you, then you are where you should be. The same applies to people that carry a full size 1911; that gun is right for them.

Mouse guns serve several purposes, all which are good imo.Except one,but there is always trade offs.
That one is that people who do have to use it had better be lucky or very well trained to get the shot placement. So that trade off is effectiveness.

I will admit i would have never given .380 any props until i shot one.I think its the smallest id ever carry also.Modern ammo seems to be what made this caliber effective enough.

Id like a .22lr mouser just for plinking, maybe an ankle holster for carrying a 3rd weapon which i find unnecessary.

What i dont get is why people buy .22 .25 .32 when they could have a .380 which can be had in the same size package. Now i know some people already have these guns and buying a new one isnt always the best move. But buying a .32 new now over a .380 i dont understand.

I carry a .45 main gun and a .380 or 9mm bug.
I bought them for 95% bug use,but i wanted the option of if i didnt have time to holster up or clothing was not conducive to carry i can pop a mouser in my pocket.
I have the Sig P238 which is a true mouse gun,but i use my Walther PPS9 just the same. Its a tad harder to pocket carry but it can be done.I also cant say how much i really love the P238,its just a wonderfull gun to hold and shoot.
I do want to add a Keltec PF9 for its size and fun.
I think you can tell im a big caliber lover since i look at 9mm's as a preferred bug also.

Because finding .380 ammunition in quantity or at a reasonable price is next to impossible. It brings a whole new question to the table: what's better, the gun you leave at home or the one you carry, but can only shoot once a year because ammo is so scarce?

I'm selling my LCP this afternoon for that very reason. I may well go back to a P32 or  look for a Beretta Jetfire.

above is EXACTLY why i went p32 over p3at, theres plenty of .32acp around here, but not a drop of .380.

everybody talks about 1 shot stops, etc...
i dont believe its necessary, you just have to drive them off.
plus i can put all 8 shots of .32acp in a 4" @15' group in about 2 seconds. :D

For a lot of people, a .380 in the same size package has too much of an negative impact on the "shootability" of the gun when you talk about true pocket pistols. For instance, comparing the Kel-Tec P32 against the P3AT, a lot of folks say the latter is a good deal more difficult to shoot quickly and accurately on account of harsh recoil and muzzle flip, and there's also increased chances of limp-wristing, and so on, compared to the P32 which is generally regarded as a pretty mild-shooting gun. Mouse guns are already known for being less accurate then larger-sized guns as it is, so that extra bit of shootability can matter.

While .380 is hard to find,i can find it with enough to stock and shoot.
Granted i do have lots of time and access to a large city nearby.

I see .25 and .32 also but its just as expensive, but Walmart sometimes does have a stray box.
And i also recognise a P32 would handle alot better than a P3AT,i went with a P238 so i wouldnt have recoil issues also.I fully understand not many people want to spend that kind of money either.

Mabey i need more mouse guns myself :)

with the right holster and belt I can carry almost any handgun concealed, I bought a Galco SOB holster and carry a Springfield Mil Spec concealed

With the right holster/rig you could carry a BAR or Desert Eagle, but why would you want to? You aren't going into combat. Civilian carry for self defense is much different than law enforcement or military.
I think a lot of the "big gun" mindset comes from LE or ex military trainers. Then the gun magazines need fodder for print, and the gun makers have to produce new models to keep up with the fads.
Most people who have carried a gun for 10+ years begin to see this, and carry smaller guns-realizing the unlikelyhood of firefights and zombies.
The "big gun" theory is actually a detriment in many ways to civilians who wish to legally carry a gun.

I've had a concealed license for 18 years, if I was worried about gunfights and zombies I'd carry something a lot bigger

Interesting how we have different takes on things.

I put on my VM2 holster on right side, my Blade Tech combo on the other--flashlight and 1 spare mag., and stick a spare P220 mag in my back pocket, and my P220 in the VM2. Then my Bratwear vest over that, complete with 642 in inside upper pocket. If I carry the P229 instead, I don't carry a spare mag in back pocket.

It feels nice. And comforting. AND, as a bonus, if the social situation really deteriorates, it actually feels and shoots like a real gun in my hand.:D

Clint Smith said that no gun is too small when it comes to carrying. No gun is too big when it comes to having to shoot one. His philosophy, that I agree with, is that a gun should be comforting, not comfortable.

Mas Ayoob said that friends don't let friends carry mouse guns.

Once in a while, but not often, I'll be out and about with nothing more than a 640 on strong side hip, and 642 in left hand holster on the other--under Safari Shirt or coat.

My deep cover small gun is a P239 9mm. But not often.

Am I wiser in my 6th decade, or just paranoid? I suspect a little of both.

Had a shooting at a car wash in Reno a couple years ago. The victim was attacked while between the wall and his car from both ends. He shot one baseball bat weilding assailant once with a Kel Tech .32. The attack halted instantly, and the other assailant fled to a waiting car (three of 'em in all)-- which is a very good thing, since the Kel Tech jammed on first shot. Well, he decided to upgrade to a new pistol, but being a hard core Kel Tech mousegunner, he upgraded to a newer model Kel Tech .32 despite efforts to convince him to upgrade to a small 9mm. Ah Jeez.:D

Sorry, if I got a little carried away, I've been drinking Red Bull again--sure makes me type faster, though.;)
