Just what type of pistols do you shoot?I totally agree with all that has been said about the S&W revolvers. You have to take care of them correctly. I shoot almost 98% auto loaders. I have several Sigs and several Walthers. The Sigs are alloy frames & some get frame wear with as little as 3K rounds thru them. I have a P220 with 40K+ rounds thru it and have almost NO frame wear at all! I use a very thin film of gun grease on the slide rails. I do not use lubes such as motor oil as that stuff is a dust magnet. I do not use products with teflon such as Tetra & Break Free as that stuff when heated gasses out TOXIC fumes! Many other gun lubes have products hat when heated turn to an ACID that will attack the metal it is supposed to protect. Many manufactures add a chemical to neutralise that acid production. Then you need corrosion protection. I did a test on lubes and found out several things. If you can get it in a weapon, NP3 is a coating plated on the internal parts by Robar in Phoenix. You will need almost no lube at all with this product on the firearm. Next best bet & can be applied to any weapon is a product by SLP 2000. It is their Extreme Weapon Lube. Did magic stuff to my Walther PPS. I got some of their grease as well. None of it attracts dust & dirt. Good stuff living in the Southwest deserts. It stays put in the high temps we have here. Try some, you'll like it.
