Advice on 10 mm

The 10 mm is my favorite handgun cartridge. Have a Glock 20 with both the 4.6 and 6 inch barrel. Also a Contender 10 inch bbl. Its versatility is what I appreciate most. Its ability to put a variety of bullet weights accurately over a wide velocity range will keep it from fading away. After it’s initial break-in and a little free tweaking by the Glock folks at Smyrna, GA, the Glock 20 has been super reliable for me for 12 years. It’s very suitable for either home defense or out in the woods (but not downtown in your pocket).:)

Baer makes a great 10mm in a 1911 format. Collector's firearms in houston has a premier II available if you want it. GLock g20 is quite nice if you put an aftermarket barrel in and eaa witness 10mm is great. I have all three and enjoy the Baer the most, the glock for fun and mag capacity and the witness for driving around houston!

Probably the sweetest 10mm I have ever fired.

Butter smooth custom double action, absolutely hair single action trigger. Loads with moon clips and shoot .40 S&W as well.

Delta or S&W

I will start off by admitting: I'm not a Glock fan. With that said, I recently found a "new" unfired Delta Elite for $500. They are out there and sometimes reasonable. It shoots great! I also own a S&W 1066. The S&W's are relatively cheap and also shoot great. I owned a 1076 years ago and could never get accustom to the DAO trigger pull, so I sold it. I bought the 1066 in frustration of the Delta prices on the internet. The 1066 probably shoots better than the Delta and with a shorter barrel. BUT, I love the feel of my new Delta Elite. A new bushing and I'll be tearing the center hole out!

I've only had my 1006 for a little while but it has already become my favorite pistol. Of course, the Bomar rear sight and full action job help just a bit. It is very accurate and a pleasure to shoot. By no means is it a CCW piece...unless you consider in my shooting bag on the way to the range concealed:D .

I've never even held a G20, but did own a G21 and I like the single stack grip of the 1006 better. A Hogue grip on the 1006 helps also.

This is personal choice and comfort, but I don't care for the feel of any Glock design, nor any 1911 design. I went with the Witness compact. Perfect for me.

And don't be fooled, any avid 10mm fan will tell you this round is not the wrist-shattering widowmaker it is made out to be by its detractors. It is a decent round with tons of potential.

Remember, all the gunrag bozos who claim that the 40 is controllable where the 10 is not are the same bozos who say that the 480 Ruger is controllable where the 454 casull is not. Think about it; that would mean that the 10 is an autoloader equivalent to the 454, while the 40 is the equivalent of the 480. LOL!

A recent SGN article on the Witness 10mm was very favorable. But I own 1 and already knew that.

I also enjoy my S&W 1006.

The Glock 20 is on my buy list.

I don't know that there's a poor 10mm out there. It seems they all have advocates.

Perhaps you mean 1046 or 1086? The 1076 has a TDA trigger system though it's decocker is frame mounted rather than on the slide.

I like the G20, it is affordable even with standard capacity mags, and shoots very well. The only thing that comes close is the Para-Ordnance P16.40 conversions (basicly drop in a 10mm barrel and heavier mainspring and recoil spring). Those would be my choices, and I'd probably lean towards the Para due to its higher versatility. The STI with high caps is very very nice, but is understandably in a different price range.
