Advanced Technology buttstock

Just got my new Mossberg 500 Persuader this week and after getting it home and checking everything out, I noticed all the slop in the fit of the stock to the slide tube. My Mossberg, I am sorry to say, has the ATI stock on it. I must agree with Liliysdad, this stock IS a piece of junk. To give you an idea how much movement (slop) is in this stock, I placed my shotgun butt end on my desk with the barrel pointed at the ceiling. Held the butt with 1 hand and grabbed the pistol grip with my other. I could actually move the barrel around in circles while the butt of the stock stayed perfectly still. Basic geometry (I guess), a little movement spread out over distance can become a lot of movement. Needless to say, I am very disappointed with this stock on such a fine shotgun. Mossberg should be ashamed for even doing this. I don't know if I should contact my gun shop with this problem or deal directly with Mossberg. What do you guys think? I know one thing for sure, however it comes out, this stock is coming off my shotgun and a quality collapsible stock going back on. Thanks liliysdad for the Mesa and CavArms info. I am also looking hard at the Knoxx SpecOps.

lilysdad,

Have you any pics or websites for these 2 stocks you have referenced? I'd like to see the CavArms and the Mesa stocks......hpg

Wow, I think I can see foam coming from lilysdad's mouth!

ATI is okay, you can spend more and get better fit and finish, or you can spend less and get something that is no frills functional.

I have a couple of their rifle stocks, and they are just fine. I have no complaints about them, and they are very strong. However, I would believe that this stock is crap simply because while they are great at making inexpensive molded zytel stocks, I can't see them making really great moving parts.

As a satasfied ATI customer, I will agree with lilysdad on this one. however ATI isn't the antichrist that he makes them out to be. I think they just got a little too ambitious.

They very well may be the antichrist of the gun world, next to Tapco. I have had several guns that had ATI stocks on them when I got them, and they quickly came off and went in the trash. Their stocks, parts, and accessories are junk, period. No foam here, just fact. there are much better options for not much more money.

Liliysdad is always high strung as hell about everything. Even though I wouldn't put an ATI stock on any gun I planned to use regularly, if you want one you can do worse. I would recommend a Vltor stock personally. We train with them in our tactical classes and they have stood up to some serious abuse.

Heh, it just seems that lilysdad is illogically angry with ATI. Not a big deal dude, if you don't like them, don't buy their stuff. The repeated ATI bashing isn't really needed, just one post will do it.

Oh, and I've also got a Lee Enfield scope mount from them that is very solid and well made.

I'm also thinking of buying some tapco magazines for my SKS (the one with the ATI stock on it) as soon as tapco gets my rail set and vertical foregrip to me so that I can mount my 30 dollar BSA laser and said vertical foregrip onto my 10/22 (that also has an ATI stock on it).

I'll tell you guys this. I went to the Knoxx website and the video they have on the Special Ops stock is pretty awesome. Hardly any recoil at all........hpg

WAIT A GOSH DARN MINUTE !!!!

the ATI costs : $65.00

the knoxx costs: $65.00 ???

I'd rather get the knoxx.

but had the ATI been $30.00.... hmm....

I helped a couple of those companies that were being sued by FN for Patent infingement on the M-4 stock on a shotgun back in...04? Any how the design works well for Remingtons to to the location of the safety. On the 500's you have to take your hand off to operate the safety. Not a good thing in the field. I had the same problem with the Houge shorty stocks. For now we are sticking with pistol grips or full stocks only.

On the Knoxx stock. I don't like them. Why, we were evaluating their "breaching grip" on a range when the pistol grip portion seperated from the reciever when the breacher pulled the trigger.

Have you ever seen a shotgun fly?

Another Company is working on a new stock to better suit end users. Testing is complete and I understand they are working on some patent and manufaturing issues. Most likely you will see them at next years SHOT show, maybe sooner.
