ADDICTION!

If y'all would stop buying maybe the rest of us could get a better price ;)

I've bought a dozen handguns since Sept. 09 :o but I've done enough reloading to pay for a couple of those in ammo savings :)

Moderators, could we please put a "Wife-Block" on this thread :D

I came up with a rule that has helped me a good bit. First off, I divided my collection into "working guns" and "toys". My working guns perform a needed role with little to know overlap between guns/roles. This keeps their numbers down. Now here is the big one, for toys, I only allow myself to by 22lrs. Ammo is cheap and pretty consistent between guns. This saves me a ton.

Of course, just a couple of weeks ago I bought a 32 acp ppk/s. Since then, I am constantly reminded why I made the darn rule!!!!

Hey now, easy on the spouses. :p

Since December I've purchased 5 and that's not counting his or the CZ-75 I allready own. My husband told me I couldn't buy another pistol until we get a Safe. So Good Friday I bought a Safe.:p

My "dealer" calls me whenever he gets the good stuff in. How is a person to stop when faced with such temptations? Last week the gun store "manager" called me (he is a "pusher" for the big "dealer") and told me about a great deal. I went down to pick it up. Today I stopped by to see how his turkey hunt went and I'll be darned if I didn't walk out of the "crack house" with a new revolver. I just can't quit.

You guys/gals need to pull it together!!! I'm in control! I decide when to buy! I can quit anytime I want!!!!! Stop looking at me! I'm not an addict!! (Anyone know where I can score a G23 for a good price? I need a fix!) :p

well damn. I guess it's somewhat relieving to hear that there are others with the same cursed sickness that I have!

I just bought a condo...i need to buy some furniture and other household things like an A/C unit, ceiling fans, TV etc etc...

but all i can think about is how i'm going to get enough money to buy me an AK 47 and a ruger sp101 :D:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Since i have to register my guns, the guys at the police dept laugh at me when i show up because i'm there every 2 weeks! (2 week background check/waiting period)

I once heard a "gun addict" say his wife had a problem with his addiction. He told her "I can collect guns or empty whiskey bottles. Which is it gonna be?" I'm not sure if he's still married.

I've added "several" since this picture was taken.

I think the boomers are the first generation to collect guns like this. I go to a lot of estate sales and know a few auctioneers and they know nothing of gun collections numbering in the hundreds, bu they are around. I personally know several 60ish people who I believe to have such collections. You are talking about people who have hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of guns stashed in safes they never shoot. I can't imagine what will happen when you old boomers start to kick the can at a good rate. There will be so many used guns on the market... I will clean up.

My GF doesn't seem to mind the guns I have, although they are not anywhere close to the value or number many have. She seems to be content that I don't have whiskey bottles, gambling debts, or other girlfriends.

My late grandfather had a very nice collection of guns yet I don't know if he would be considered an addict though. For years he had his FFL and sold guns and ammo out of his little country store. When he got out of the firearm business he took all of his unsold inventory home. Out of the 75 to 100 rifles, shotguns, and revolvers he had, I only got a Marlin M36 30-30 and a Stevens 410 so I'm having to build my own arsenal. But my uncles added a good bit to their own collection when they divided them up after his passing. Needless to say of the 10 guns I own, those two are treasured highly. :)

Well. I sorta just got into this whole gun thing. I bought my first handgun in October of 2009....It is now April of 2010....and i own 7 hand guns...and 2 rifles...and i just...can't stop buying guns! There's just too many of them that i want!!

Someone help me!

Here's whatcha do.

Go online to the atf website and order the application for a C&R FFL. Then you can have C&R guns shipped to your residence and that'll save you money on gas from running to gun shops all the time.

When I lived in central Fla. I used to frequent this bait shop in Indialantic, not because he had the best bait(in a way he did) or the best prices. He was a WW2 vet and collected guns of WW1 and 2 and his wife had him get them out of the house, so he bought a bunch of glass counters and filled them and all the walls of the shop with guns. I occasionally bought bait there. When he died, his wife was offered 2 million for his collection. They had lived in a modest small block house for some 20 years. Last I heard she was living in an upscale gaited community.

I feel the pain of your addiction.
This picture is maybe 3 or 4 months old, and I've added maybe 6 or 8 since this one was taken.
Just handguns.
I'm an addict. :(

PRESCRIPTION...attached.

First, calm down. You are not the first person who has been stricken with this sickness. (yes, it is a sickness).

You must create an atmosphere where repeated purchasing is painful for you. I suggest you purchase your next pistol at full price or even better, offer the clerk a little more than full price. Then, immediately sell it (preferably to someone here on the forum who has YOUR best interest in mind) for half price.

Repeat this process until the though of purchasing another pistol is painful (or until WE all get the remaining guns on our lists) this may take awhile, but we feel your pain and truely want to see you recover.

I have to go now, my treatment is about to start.

Beware: It is contagious

Took the family to a gun show last month, I was only looking for something in the .264 cal family, 6.5x55 swede or .264 win mag, but there wasn't one to be found.
However, my wife found a .243, and a 20 ga, and my oldest daughter had her heart set on a scoped .22 mossberg rifle.

Bought all three, and continued the family tradition. Everytime we buy a new pistol / rifle it's dinner at Famous Dave's.

win-lose: Moderators, could we please put a "Wife-Block" on this thread

The wife made me bid on a Model 15 on Gunbroker last night - thank God I was out bid today.
She's WAY worse than I am.
You may think it's cool when the old lady likes guns, but unless you're rich, it's not as great as it sounds. :(
