Accidental Shooting By CCW Holder

Kentucky Rifle

You people from Louisville probably saw it on the news tonight. A man who was standing in line for pop-corn at Tinsel Town movie theater dropped his pistol from his pocket, the pistol fired, went through his calf and into the butt of a woman in front of him.
The woman was on the news tonight with her lawyer listing the people who she was going to sue. Lastly, she stated that "something had to be done about people who are allowed to carry concealed guns".
I think that "ahhh ****" covers this.

Mendacity is the system we live in.

That is my worst nightmare, Right after misjudging a situation and shooting the wrong person. Or missing my tartget and hitting a innocent. I carry to protect myself and others, not to reduce my personal stress and worry.
Read my Dancing post around here somewhere on how much fun carrying is.

first, I can't believe he carried in his pocket in such a manner...if it's nice enough for a jacket and the jacket didn't have pockets large enough for his gun....what was wrong with a clip on holster? Or at least a holster to cover the weapon so it was less likely to fire if it DID fall out.

Hadn't heard about it here in Texas...but I rarely watch the liberal media anyway..

Ugh.

I remember John Lott saying that ADs involving concealed handgun licensees are so rare as to be statistically unmeasurable. Not that the media will care that, say, a million ADs *don't* happen for every one that does.

BTW, I'm curious what kind of gun it was and why it would have gone off when dropped. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought it was hard to get a modern handgun to discharge unless the trigger was pulled.

Like they used to say when I was in the Navy

1 OH S**T! = 10 ATTA BOY!'s

Chris -

You're wrong. 1 "Aw, sh**" can wipe out any number of "Attaboys."

Granted, this CCW holder was STUPID STUPID STUPID and should lose his CCW.

Stil, by this lady's logic, one worst-case person characterizes all CCW holders. If we use her way of thinking, the fact that a Black woman ran a stop sign and hit my car means that all Blacks should have their driver's license pulled. It means that since Al Capone was Italian, all Italians should be departed (I'm gonna miss Tony Bennett). It means that since Klebold and Harris were students, all students should be jailed.

Duh.

The Army did not let us carry a round in the chamber of our 1911s. I still don't carry a semi that way. The handgun near where I sleep does have a round in the chamber.

That is nothing, the Navy doesn't let you carry clips in your guns.
I too would like to hear what type of gun it was.
I am really surprised it hasn't made the national news yet. All the anti's should be foaming at the mouth to send this around the world. I guess it isn't as sensational as the first ccw shooting here in Texas was.

Anybody got a url from a newspaper on this?

This can start the dreaded debate over whether CCW types need training or not.

Give the guy the fullest legal penalties.

What kind of gun anyway?

Just to be outrageous, carrying unchambered is silly if you worry about a dropped ND.
Get a quality gun.

If true they could run it up a lot. This is the ideal media story. It can:

1. Beat up on Bush for signing CHL law.

2. Play to people's darkest fears, the gun firing itself.

Battler.

I would be interested in knowing how it just went off too. I thought there was a safety on it (maybe there was and he didn't have it on?)

I'll second that.

"[Even if there would be] few tears shed if and when the Second Amendment is held to guarantee nothing more than the state National Guard, this would simply show that the Founders were right when they feared that some future generation might wish to abandon liberties that they considered essential, and so sought to protect those liberties in a Bill of Rights. We may tolerate the abridgement of property rights and the elimination of a right to bear arms; but we should not pretend that these are not reductions of rights." -- Justice Scalia 1998

I think that I'm going to be sick. Stories like this feed the flames of the anti-Rights crowd.

This is why, ladies and gentlemen, mandated training will come down the pipeline. Get ready for it.

Unfortunately we have people among us who, while 'qualified' for 'shall issue' CCW permits should not be allowed out in public. While in line for the movie 'Patriot' a few days ago I saw an individual carrying--the last 2" of a strong side carry holster (Uncle Mike's Super Belt Slide, to be specific) were clearly visible below the hem of his jacket. With friends like that who needs enemies?

if our national news system works as it has recently the following dictum will work to advantage NO KILL = NO NEWS, I hope the woman will be allright but ONLY 1 person is responsable for here situation and HE is easy to spot by the powder burns on his thigh.

Don't mistake shall-issue for no training required.

You can have 3 weeks training required but shall-issue means that you can take it and get your permit without being politically connected (e.g. Rosie).

If you ment lewisville, TX, then I still have heard no news,or mention in any paper, or on-line source. Could you tell us where you heard it?
