seems like every time i buy a pistol i like you always have to buy something to make it better. i got an M&P 9, you need to buy a APEX kit to make it right. i got an cz75 po-1 after great reviews then i saw on cz forum you need to buy a trigger job and springs or something. is there any semi auto you can buy that you can get and just leave it alone. lol. all i need it for home & carry.

Some car guy wrote on a car forum that one of the worst insults you could hurl at somebody was to take a look at their car and say 'you mean it's stock???!!!

Some of that attitude just might be present among gun folk too.

The only extra I've ever bought for any semi-auto I've ever owned, and I've owned plenty of them, are holsters and ammo.

I might buy a grip adapter for a revolver once in a while. That's about it.

I rarely do stuff to my guns, with the exception of night sights on SOME of them and mag wells on my 1911's (2 of the 4 have them added). Other than that, they are bone stock.

thanks guys, that helps. i guess they are trying for perfection , i would not know if i found it probably . just wondering if you could buy one good to go out of the box.

I have five CZ pistols. All of them are stock, and the triggers are excellent. They do break in nicely with use.

I like to use a gun how it was designed by the experts. I think ppl just like to tinker (nothing wrong with that). Is there a reason the manufacturers don't install the springs that apparently make the gun so much better and a necessity? Such as a beretta D spring, CGW, etc? I'd honestly like to know.

If you want a gun for home defense and carry, they are pretty much all just fine out of the box. Trigger kits, different weight springs, etc., are not necessary. If you want to get into competition, that is a different situation. It's like a car - the base model will do everything the average person needs it to do, and often more. If you are going to be racing with it, though, you will want some bells and whistles to make it more competitive. Don't let the internet commandos convince you that you NEED aftermarket parts in your carry gun. They are not necessary.

think i will stay off the forums, and enjoy my M&P & cz in ignorance .

Naw. The forums are fun. Just don't be so quick to jump on the "gotta have" bandwagons.

Besides. You ain't seen NOTHING yet. You want "advice" about what you "gotta have" buy a Ruger 10/22. :D

Man, they'll have you ready to throw away everything but the serial number.

IMHO, an HK P30S (with the thumb safety) and with the "V1" Light LEM trigger variant is a great out of the box range & carry gun. The modular grip setup lets you change backstraps and side shells to fit just about any sized hand. The stock luminescent sights are excellent just as they are. You'll need some dry & live-fire practice to get used to the LEM trigger, but then it takes practice to get used to any trigger.

And almost everything recommended by people on the internet, that I've spent money on and put on a gun, I've taken off.

(Grips are the one exception. "One size fits most, sort of.")

Basically, it turns out the gun engineers mostly know what they're doing.
