ABC treats NRA fairly and honestly tonight...

Well, I am 26 minutes into the ABC special on the NRA tonight. It was gratifying to see that they are being fair, casting the NRA in a favorable light, and not taking any sides.
Clearly an unbiased piece of reporting if I ever saw one.

Yep, it certainly was a piece of something...

It's 1/2-way over. Has anyone been able to discern a point to all this? Where the heck are they going with their presentation?

They are villifying the NRA, that is where they are going.

The Big Mean NRA is picking on poor Al Gore and the rest of the democrats.

Well, which is it, good or bad? I've only seen one show years ago where the mainstream leftist media gave gunowners a fair shake. It was Ed Bradley of 60 Wasted Minutes he had his own show, I think it was called Street Stories. He did a segment on the Koreans in South Central LA that formed their own type of militia to protect themselves against a possible second riot. He also had on a couple of others that defended themselves with firearms against criminals. I've learned not to bother with these types of shows any more, because 99 out of 100 they are going to be anti gun, anti self defense.

Walang, the first post an attempt at sarcasm.

Ironically, this is one of the first times that I have been accused of being to subtle on this issue...

Still watching it. Now they're talking about how the NRA blacklisted the Michigan representative, Bart Stupak. The show is leaning towards calling the NRA a big bully in the schoolyard. Peter Jennings is grilling Wayne LaPierre (Whom I personally have no great love for, I think he's outlived his usefulness after the Neal Knox thing)in rapid-fire questions.

abcimixab, Sorry, that one flew over my head. Just ignore me on Glock Talk too.

How in the hell do you buy a gun at a gun show if you have to wait 72 hours on a background check? I fully support the NRA on this. As far as I am concerned this Stupak guy is a traitor and needs to be voted out next month.

Well, it started off ok, but the ending is the same 'ol thing you hear everywhere but here. I wonder where ABC got there numbers for the convictions? Just what exactly else was on the bill that that poor shmuck voted for? They never did say. Just remember that a REALLY GOOD lie always has at least 90% truth in it.

It must have been state convictions not federal. A little slight of hand trick by jennings.

Outcome.... Nra = bad

Capitulating, appeasers = good and reasonable, mistreated

Jennings makes me want to barf
Yech!

Damn! Damn! Damn! The ABC NRA special was a hatchet job of historic proportions!!!

I can't believe al of the omissions and the outright propaganda that ABC aired tonight! There was one hell of a lot more to the vote that Democrat Bart Stupak sold the NRA out on than what they said. They actually tried to make Ed Shultz of S&W out to be some kind of innocent victim of the NRA as well. It was total BS from beginning to end. Unfreakin believable!!! I pray that this backfires on ABC and the gun grabbers big time!

Please, send money to the NRA-ILA and to Stupak's opponet if you can!

One important detail ABC failed mention is that Gun Bill last summer was defeated by the DEMOCRATS!!! They had the votes to carry the vote but they didn't want it to pass. The Clinton/Gore administration didn't want any "progress" on gun control. It's much easier to vilify the NRA, the Republican Party, and George Bush.

The irony is that poor SOB Democrat Congressman from Michigan was sacrificed by his own Party, probably because was pro 2nd Amendment in the past. That's how the treat their own. Imagine what they'll do to us gun owners if they win in November. -- Kernel

At least Peter Jennings was honest up front. In the introduction he said, "this is not about gun control AT LEAST NOT DIRECTLY."

I`m surprised that ABC was able to hold off till after the first commercial break to begin slamming the NRA.Frankly I fail to see why the NRA even agreed to do the program. They had to know the chances of getting anything resembling a fair and impartial hearing at the hands of Peter Jennings and ABC was about as likely as Rosie turning down a tour of the local doughnut shop.

Bottom line...everyone knew where the NRA stood on Al Gore before this show aired and it`s unlikely it will change anyones mind.JMHO.

what was the closing remark?

something along the lines of..."in 4 weeks will people vote guns or will they vote the wider picture?" >:

For what I hear...it may be 8 weeks and people are going to be voting WITH their guns.

I'm a single issue voter. RKBA or nothing. Like Ice Cube said, "I'd rather be narrow minded."

With the 4 million current NRA members and at least another 4 million who are somewhat friendly towards pro-gun causes, what do you think? 50 letters? Or am I being overly-optimistic?

Yeap Satanta,
That's what he said. Peter Jennings basically implied that if we vote for Bush, we've been brain washed, and frightened into it by the lying NRA. Well Mr. Jennings, I disagree with Al Gore on a whole lot more than just gun control. Please try not to have a sissy fit if Bush wins the White House.

Now, how about a story on the lying, fear monger brain washing of your buddies at HCI and MMM?
