A Work of Beauty, or an Abomination?

I see only one use for that thing & others similar to it.

Cut the metal up into easy to manage pieces for forging into something more useful & appealing.
Bust the wood up to feed the forg's furnace.

>>>and so is the M16 version and all variants...<<<

There is a muzzle loading, percussion cap fired "M16" out there somewhere? Do tell.

Egads! It's the American Revolution all over again.

How does a blackpowder muzzle loading SKS rifleman expect to defend himself from his opponent whose bayonet equipped Brown Bess musket charges him? At Saratoga, Daniel Morgan's riflemen ran and hid behind Dearborn's light infantry (who had bayonets) whenever the British infantry approached too close. Clearly that SKS must have the folding bayonet to be an effective weapon. A large, detachable 30 round magazine could be attached to store ball, powder and accoutrements too.

Coyote Ugly

That rifle can only be explained by the Communist work ethic. "As long as you pretend to pay me, i will pretend to work".

That ethos obviously carries over into the field of rifle design. Well, look at the architecture in modern China and Russia - their hideous buildings are the analogy to this rifle. Probably perfectly functional, but just butt ugly. Sort of like the difference between carving a roasted turkey and bludgeoning it with an axe. Either way you're cutting it, but...

I think there is nothing like a Kentucky rifle. There form followed function until it was refined and artistic. Even my Traditions in-line, which shoots .5 MOA, has the classic look of an traditional hunting rifle.

Anyway, i think i'll not bid on this one.
