A very impressed Walther PPS owner right here!

I took my new Walther PPS 9mm to the range today for the first time. I sold off my Beretta Nano and purchased a PPS to replace it. I have been wanting a Walther PPS for several years now, and decided to finally purchase one. I know, I'm late to the PPS show haha:D

Overall, I was extremely impressed with it. It fit my hand very well with the smaller backstrap installed. The trigger was very good, and I was able to shoot one hole groups with it at 7 yards consistently. I shot 100 rounds of Winchester 124gr NATO fmj and 40 rounds of Speer Gold Dot 124gr jhp through it today. It was 100% reliable.

I have installed a Talon rubberized grip on it, and have a set of Meprolight night sights on order for it. I also purchased a Blackhawk OWB leather holster for it, and my Wintrop IWB leather holster showed up in the mail today. If you have not heard of or looked at Wintrop holsters before, check them out. They make really nice leather.

First 15 rounds at 7 yards

Nice shooting. My PPS has been my go to CCW pistol for The last 5 years, and I have no intention of looking for another.

My Walther PPS was a fine shooter as well! Congrats! The holster looks nice, I like Andrews Leather a lot, when not using hybrid or all synthetic models...

Congrats! The PPS is at the top of the heap when it comes to the ultra-slim, single-stack 9mm pistols, in my opinion. And they're a load of fun at the range, too. It shoots just like a full-size pistol.

Same here. I don't do CCW "rotations," so the PPS won't be sharing time with any other pistol until/unless something clearly better comes along -- and it's hard for me to imagine something being much better in this category.

It really is. My first group at 15 yards with my PPS blew my mind. And it's a soft shooter, even with 124-gr. Gold Dot +P.

Yes, they are great and I had a similar experience with mine. The only thing that bothered me a bit after around 100 rounds or so was the checkering.

Just ordered tru-glo for mine.

Two questions for you PPS guys.

Does the PPS slide lock back after an empty round?

How would describe the feel of the trigger on the PPS?

Thanks for the reply Viper.

My bad, I was thinking of the Beretta Nano which doesn't have a slide lock.

It looks like it has trigger similar to a design of a Glock or XDS.

I guess what I need to do is run by a couple of gun shops and check it out.

I just shot another 100 rounds through my PPS again today. Still 100% reliable and very accurate. I really like the trigger on the PPS. It is very good compared to many other striker fired guns.

I think that after one more range trip that I will start carrying it on a regular basis. I am still waiting for the Meprolight night sights to arrive in the mail before I take it back to the range. I just want to make sure the POI doesn't change before I carry it.

I absolutely love the PPS trigger. The PPS was on my list as a maybe, along with the Shield, PM9, Nano, LC9S, etc. Then I got a good range session with it and now it's on my "will-buy" list. It's my next carry gun after a few more paychecks. Different triggers work with different people, and that PPS trigger lets me ring steel better than some full-size guns.

IMHO, the PPS is a superior pistol to any of those others in terms of quality, durability, ergonomics, and shootability.

But it is also slightly larger and a bit heavier as well. There's always a trade-off.

The OP's problems notwithstanding, I put the Nano right there with the PPS in terms of build quality and refinement. It's impressively well-made, in my opinion. But it doesn't compare ergonomically for me, and it never should have been designed with such a long and heavy trigger. How anyone at Beretta could think that was a good idea after testing a PPS in the lab is beyond me.

Yeah, this PPS replaced my Nano, after two trips back to the factory for repairs. I just couldn't trust it anymore after that. So far the PPS is holding up just fine. It is a very well built pistol.

Yes it does, it's just internal like on the PPK. The Nano locks back after the last round, but you need to slingshot the slide when reloading because there's no external slide release.

But I agree that the PPS is a far better pistol than the Nano: It has a much better trigger, better ergonomics, and a much lower bore axis.

Right, I should have clarified my statement as an external manual slide lock on the Nano. I don't care for the lack of a manual slide lock. The nano trigger is horrid IMO as well. But thanks for the input.

I went and looked at a PPS at a LGS. I liked the trigger. It seemed like a reasonable fit to my hand for a small carry pistol. I am a little iffy on the mag release system on the trigger guard. I am sure in time I could get use to it. But it still would not be second nature for me as I have been shooting 1911's and P220's for decades.

The one thing at this point that turns me off of the PPS is a one year warranty. I don't understand why a company like Walther can't support their product with a better warranty.

Yeah, it's too bad S&W isn't doing warranty service anymore. They didn't care how old the gun was, if the person bought it used, etc.
