A Thing of Beauty.....

Hey if YOU like it and had fun building it, that's what's really matters.
That said, some ARs are just too busy looking for me. Seems like some folks build them just for the sake of building them, without any real vision of what it will turn out like. I'm from the" less is more' school of thought I guess, old and boring:) The two posted here are not near as busy as some.

Wow! Everyone is a critic... I'm not a big fan of tactical, but these are pretty nice looking. The most important thing is that they are what floats YOUR boat. I say other peoples opinions be damned!

All these old guys are stuck in the mind set of the old Cavalry soldiers who didn't want to see the switch from sabers and horse mounted charges into enemy lines.

Everlast,

Let's not bash us old guys, I am at least twice your age if not 3 times it. My first AR was bought in 1968.

Gary,
That is a great build, nice going I love the parts you used, I have to get one of those barrels.

Dont mess with us old guys, we are better armed. (LOL)

I appreciate everyone's comments. Understood, not everyone has the same taste. I thought the stainless fluted barrel combined with the chromed bolt carrier was rather distinguished looking.:D

I'm frankly puzzled about all the comments about cheek weld. Both scopes are mounted so that my cheek is solidly against the stock when my eye is in the right position behind the scope. Moreover, the 1-4X co-witnesses with the front sight rather well, with the sight almost exactly 1 mildot below the center of the crosshairs. I tried mounting it lower, ahead of the rear sight, but wound up needing that chiropractor to unkink my neck after trying to get my shooting eye low enough to center the crosshairs!

Went to the range this afternoon to check the 100-yd zero on my carbine. It's dead on 4" high @ 100 yds, so should be dead zero at 250 yds.

Bartholomew is right -- they won't look this good too long. My carbine will be riding in the M-16 mount on my MUTT when SWMBO and I go out to the Wickenburg Massacre Site this weekend, and both will be in their mounts on the MUTT when we travel the Devil's Highway from Ajo to Yuma and back later on this Winter. ;)
