Here's a Model 28 from a reputable dealer for $575:

SMITH & WESSON MODEL 28-2 HIGHWAY PATROLMAN

"357 Magnum; 98% blue, excellent bore, excellent grips, 6'' barrel, Original blue finish, fitted with Hogue Monogrip finger groove grips. Serrated ramped fixed front and fully adjustable rear sights. Casehardened grooved trigger and checkered hammer. Pinned barrel, recessed cylinder chambers. Used, showing some minor sharp edge wear and a turn line on the cylinder. There is a tiny area of light pitting on the right edge of the barrels muzzle. Includes the original two piece blue box numbered to the gun with papers and cleaning accessories. The box is in very good intact condition. FFL, s/n N2829xx "
 
I walked into my lgs to get a box of 380s and I actually put my hands up as blinders to "me no lookey " at the used case of revolvers.
This got a laugh, but of course I looked and there is a freaking beautiful model 28 for $499!!!
Had an older set of pachmyers on her and then the back of the tag says "plus original grips"
And yep he pulled them out of a box under the case..
